    Re: Interceptor 650 Twin

I booked my interceptor today from thane Sonia motors.

So I booked the red colour at first coz of the awesome black spokes. Then I realised the custom variants don't have the cool ass logo. So I settled on Orange crush.

I'm a 6 ft 2 in guy who weights over 110kgs. The seat felt small for me but the touring seat seems to be a fine replacement.

The waiting is apparently long and images get my baby by early April. Gotta gritnmy teeth and get through this waiting period

There are a few modifications that I would definitely make at some point subject to availability of said customisation to my liking and money.

    1. LED headlamp
    2. Better tail lamps.
    3. Alloy wheels coz I hate the tubes.(the showroom person actually said that the tyres are actually tubeless with tubes put under them. So actually just getting the alloys should be enough).

      Re: Interceptor 650 Twin

I will book my Interceptor 650 tomorrow. As per the showroom guy, it will be delivered by end of Feb! I was wondering, has RE started their deliveries? I have barely managed to find ownership reviews/videos.

Here in Chennai, saw atleast 20 interceptors and GT's last Sunday. They were on a ride to Yelagiri. Deliveries must have begun I suppose.

Any idea regarding the availability of a back rest compatible for the interceptor?
Although it might not get along well with the design language of the interceptor i feel it is required for the pillion to feel safer.

I was almost sure that I will be booking my Interceptor 650, however I came across owners post and found that owner was not at all happy with 2 things!
            1. Pillion foot pegs are awkwardly placed. Pillion was not ready to carry on merely after 22 KM ! The reason was poor seat & pathetic placement of foot pegs.
            2. All though he is enjoying his bike, ride quality, engine, he was again complaining of riders foot pegs coming in between!

Looks like RE have made a mistake in placing the silencer right below the rear foot pegs... it can really burn the shoes!

From my test ride, the 1st, 2nd thing were the kind let down for me too, added to this was the Indicators, they look out of place, highway visibility for the taillight and indicators is questionable.

Definitely it needs a good bright LED tail light and LED indicators (something like indicators from Apache RR310/Dominar/KTM/ series).

Alloys wheels will be a hit or miss, suggest you to stay away from aftermarket ones, doubtful on the build quality of those fancy wheels. If RE offers original alloys as accessories that should be the way to go.

                  Re: Interceptor 650 Twin

I Had booked INT 650 (Orange Crush) on the Launch day in Bangalore ( RE Brand Store - Jayanagar).
After multiple follow ups the dealer promised bike by Jan 20th (I Had sent a mail to RE saying there is no communication on delivery timing last week, The next day got a call saying the bike would be delivered by Jan 20th).
Yesterday got a call from the dealer saying that the company has asked to call everyone who had booked within the first 3 days of launch that they might be a delay in deliveries ( 10-30 days). I'm starting to think weather it is worth the wait, knowing we would be testers of the Beta motorcycles.

Where as someone whom i know got a call from dealer (Some Other dealer) to check if he was interested in Baker express (He had booked Orange Crush). He Rejected saying he wanted Orange only. He had booked on 2nd or 3rd Day.

Not sure if the delay is from the Dealer or from RE.

If you're looking for those full fledged LED round headlamp unit and the dual way indicators, they can pretty much sourceable here in India itself. Lots of tom dick and harry retailers have started selling these LED lamps for the Royal Enfield series. The indicators though are a hit and miss, as mostly they have a single work pattern, not dual as the guy on the video. But can be procured. Start off with searching online, and it should point you in the right direction.

You can even comment on the video regarding the same. Hopefully the owner would reply.

One point I'd like to mention, the delay is usually almost always from the factory side. The dealers are ready to sell any motorcycle as all they want is to cash in on as fast as possible. Unless the showroom is a tier 4 and lower ones, then it can be even bleaker as they struggle with the financing aspect for the most part, here the delay is caused by the showroom guys that causes the delay to the end customer, not the factory, not payment of dues, or partial payment of dues pending to RE etc etc.

In case of 75% money remitted to a branded showroom and still the vehicles getting backordered, would mean a delay in factory or delayed shipping and transit time from factory. Give it a few more days, and make sure your voice is heard at the SVC by calling them and stay patient.

                    Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

                    THE END

My main reason for led is that they should lighter on the batteries and more durable than the infamous halogen bulbs.
Them looking better is just a bonus.

                        Re: Interceptor 650 Twin

Finally booked my Interceptor today. Reported the pillion footrest issue to RE showroom owner. Asked them if they are going to fix the issue in coming months. Showroom guy did call to area manager but, he was also not sure if any update is coming. This time I went to showroom with my wife and indeed my wife said the foot pegs are not well placed and are not comfortable at all. Luckily showroom guy adviced me to book a bike since the waiting period is long. Meanwhile if any RE fixes the issue I can take my delivery else I can always cancel my delivery and take my 5k back. I liked that solution and finally I did my booking.
It is for sure that RE didnot do any testing with pillion!

I think RE is actively fixing this issue I came across almost 2-3 times now where I have seen RE employees doing rides on the bike with pillion unlike earlier there used to be only one rider.
