I think you're referring to a quickshifter. Slipper clutch and quickshifter are entirely different. And no, it is not advisable to change gears without clutch usage unless you do it at high speeds with certain knack and experience.

For clutch less shifts a quick shifter is also needed. Upshifts are ok without clutch but downshifts should be avoided.
Oh right I actually confused it with quickshifter my bad.

Guys, let me congratulate the future 650 owners. I had a chance to test drive the bike and it's fabulous. I am currently not in a position to spend 3 lakh buy I will be considering this bike some time in 2020. While test driving the bike, I felt the engine was extremely hot ( I own a CBR 250 and 87 model bullet). I still didn't understand why royal Enfield skipped the liquid cooling functionality. What's your view on this ?

First service is done and they did replaced some O ring in gearbox for false neutrals which my friend faced once, after which gear shifts are little bit tight(before service, gear changes were butter smooth) and require clutch movement.
Slight update about gears shifts, they are still butter smooth when riding the bike.

I Hope the rider of this conti is doing good. No traffic sense is also at fault sometimes, Dont know what happened here. Sometimes, accidents happen due to someone's else fault. Recently my very close friend lost his cousin in a road accident who was a passenger (in a car) returning from a marriage. Everyone should Ride safe and shouldn't play with safety of others too. High speed is dangerous but slow movers in fast lanes and midway frequent stoppers(instead of stopping on shoulder) are also a nuisance and can cause disasters sometime.

They wanted to keep the cost low and also maintain a simple and clean design. If you watch one of their promotional videos on their YouTube channel, (I forgot which one) you can see them talking about this.

Very well said, ever since the Interceptor & GT have launched... every reviewer on youtube is posting how much fast it can go... so many reviews with higher side on 3 digit speed. Almost all of them missed to catch simple pillion comfort... non of them were worth the watch!

Power comes with responsibility guys. I had debate with our friends between preferring GT over interceptor. My point was simple, CBR taught me that a bit committed position gives your more control on higher speed, cornering, handing and braking. So I prefer GT die to that sitting position, than interceptor I had control on GT when I was test driving.

Hi Guys,

I took delivery of my INT 650 last Friday. Did a 450kms ride to Shettihalli Church on Saturday, Below are my observations:

+vs
>Refined Engine, Butter smooth even at high speeds (140+)
>Exhaust is music to the ears (Even after a 450kms ride)
>Got a mileage of 28.4 at speeds of 90-110 (+Bursts upto 140kms)
>The Torque is awesome,In 6th gear you can ride at 70km/hr & with a bit of throttle you will reach 120km/hr in no time
>The tyres provide are good for good roads, You will enjoy taking on the hairpin curves
>The gearshift is butter smooth, The Slipper clutch is a boon on Corners

-vs
>The seats have to improved even with the touring seats (Had butt pain in my 450km ride)
>The windblast is way too much above 120 (Even with the tall windscreen)
>The bike is not meant for bad roads (Had a 1km bad patch at the end, the bike just does not like it)
>The Headlight has to be upgraded (Getting Nighteye LED's Installed)
>The bike is not meant for Bangalore traffic, it heats up quite a bit (Not as much as D390 though)

An update about my booking:

Had booked ravishing red INT650 Manzil motors, Gurgaon on 25th of November.

The brand champ is still clueless about the expected date of delivery.

Got my Interceptor on 1st February! First impressions - Extremely smooth, addictive sound. Handling through traffic is no problem.
The footpegs : no issues except when needed to move backwards out of a parking spot.
Pillion Comfort : My wife was fairly comfortable on the short (20 minute) rides we have had so far... only a long drive will truly reveal the actual comfort level.
Engine heating : I find it heating up quite a bit, but then i have only an Apache 150 to seriously compare with!

I just met a friend who owns a Triumph Speed Triple and he was bowed over with the looks, fit & finish, and the rumble!

I will surely post a detailed review after i complete the rigors of running-in my beauty!!

The Second Date,

Like all second dates is a longer one and pulls you close to the person, if you really enjoyed the first one.

The engine has settled in nicely after the first service, it was around 2250kms on the odo. Smoothness has increased inspite of being a test ride used by several dozens of riders. The exhaust rumble seems to have more loudness too. Only signs of wear/tear seems to be on the mirrors, edges had had many spots of fade.Click image for larger version

Hustling through city traffic is such a breeze with loads of torque available lower down the rev range. All you need is the 3rd and 4th gears in moderate traffic. Accelerating from a signal stop in 1st gear this Enfield actually feels like a bullet(pun intended), as you leave everyone behind gawking at the twin exhausts roar!

Cruising on the highways is where the Interceptor 650 shines. Sitting at 90-120kmph it's so relaxed thanks to that 6th gear. It's a superb mile munching machine. Long distance tours can be done with ease. You don't even have to use the brakes that often, since you get a good view of the road ahead due to higher seating position and anticipate events easily. Oh, but when you do press the brakes it drops the anchor like it means business, stops reassuringly.

Riding along with the Street Twin for 75kms things become pretty clear. You get 90% of the Triumph Bonneville experience at 1/3 of the price. That's a deal which is hard to beat and this is going to create a new wave of motorcycle riders in India.

I got mine delivered on the 2nd February.
Simply loving it. My wife, not so much because of the pillion seat and footpeg combination.

I saw a post in team-bhp with pictures of a few alternatives for the seat in Karolbagh. So Delhi owners facing the same issue can head there.

As for Mumbai, the hunt begins.

Today is the second day of riding and my shoulders are aching a little like how they would after your first day in gym. Its like the muscles are activated after a long break. Coming from a scooter and a Classic 500, I guess this will take some getting used to.

So, right now, due to the lack of a proper seat and backrest for the pillion, I am really careful when accelerating from a stop. But once alone, its a breeze.

There's just one word for this beautiful motorcycle. EFFORTLESS!
