Here is another query, for users who had the bike for long, did you experience the left hand grip to be more buzzy than the right? Mine is present across the rpm range and is so bad that it has caused numbness on my left hand should I be driving for a hour and a half.

Speaking to the mechanics they stated as the left cylinder is the leading at the firing sequence, the vibrations could be caused by the engine, considering that my bike has crossed only 987 kms as of this post, unless they open the engine, everything else is speculation.

Hi. I'm notcing the same issue and it bothers me quite a bit. How has this progressed in the meantime? Does it go away on its own or did you have to do something about it? Let me know. Thanks

I have experienced buzzing during prolonged rides but it was more like an inherent vibration caused when maintaining speeds of 100 kmph on the highway. I had initially fitted thick aftermarket rubber grips along with risers. The buzz and numbness was completely gone. I have now put Trip machine grip wraps and all is well. I will finally upgrade to Grip Puppies in the future.
In my opinion the stock Interceptor grips are hard and coupled with the slightly committed riding position tend to put more strain on the palms which leads to numbness. Check out Himalayan grips they are much softer comparatively and are more suited for touring.

This is my jugaad for better gripping. Had it for a few months now, the adhesive is rock solid and so is the comfort.

Buy Badminton Superior Grip X 2 Black, badminton grips, superior grip. This provides the tackiness to ensure your racket doesn't slip from your hands in hot weather.

Superb idea. I had toyed with the idea of doing the same on my bike but went ahead with leather grip wraps. I even bought the grips from Decathlon. Cheers to innovation...!!

Here is an excellent long term review (25000 km) by a gentleman who really knows what he is talking about. He has done some really classy mods to the bike to make it touring friendly. All those who need to make up their mind about the touring credentials of this bike and those who want to know what all to put on the bike...Plz watch closely..

Wonderful analysis by these gentlemen. The essence this gentleman was apprising is, customize it to your liking, and then do your own stuff. What I liked about this is, finer details, this isn't a jack of all trades. You either make it one, or you just live with it and do your stuff. But, all said and done, the one point that stuck me like a hammer and totally one with this fella is when he says he misses a seventh cog, totally with him on this thing. I miss a seventh cog on my R15.

Hello guys, did you all get your tappets adjusted in the first service? My service centre did not do it despite me telling them to.

It wasn't a mandate at the time of my Motorcycle's first service. Got it done at second full service after a year no issues faced.
Now it is mandatory by RE to do it at first then every full service.

Has anyone here done their service via the Service on Wheels (SOW) system implemented by RE. If so please let me know cause I am thinking of trying it out for the first time. It's been 6 months since I rode my bike properly and it needs a little work done so if any owners here has given their 650 for service via SOW do let me know your thoughts and if its a good idea.
Thank you in advance for your help

                            • Nightmarish service centre experience

Guys I apologise in advance, it's going be a long post. I'll do my best to keep it short but i'm really flustered and would appreciate any insights that you guys can offer me.

So, I took delivery of my interceptor on september 21st and gave it in for the first service a week later. Leaving aside the extremely lacklustre service centre experience for a moment, let's skip to the day after, when i felt like the bike just wasn't the same - I felt like both the performance and the refinement were just not the same. I decided not to jump to any hasty conclusions and stay patient for the time being. But two days later, on a longish ride on an empty stretch, the lack of punch and the "plushness" from the week before was definitely evident.

I went off on the service centre guys and was placated and the technician was sent to my place. His response was to take me pillion on a manic ride and then telling me something along the lines of "no you're wrong. everything seems fine". Obviously, I insisted further, and was asked to come to the service centre the next morning. The next day, I was told the same thing by (presumably) the senior technician. That everything was normal and that I was imagining things. Among my complaints was that the catalytic converter (again, presumably) was making a racket even after a 5 minute ride, which I was told by members of this forum was normal.

So, I decided to take the service centre at their word (grudgingly) and learned to live with the bike as it was. I decided that it was my OCD that was skewing my perspective of the bike and decided to move on. 1500 km later, 3 days ago, i started hearing a ticking sound from the engine, which i assumed to be the tappets. because the other RE service centre in my city is closed for renovation, I had to go back to these guys with my issue. I was asked to leave the bike for a day.

Today, after a seriously long wait, mostly due to unnecessarily tedious delays in the billing process, I was asked to check the bike. (After I paid 600 odd rupees for changing the head gasket! on warranty!) Anyway, 1 second was all it took for me to realise that the bike just sounded 'wrong" and when revved it on neutral, it sounded extremely stressed. And the ignition just seemed half hearted (pardon my expression, I'm really not technically well informed here).

Again, they insisted that everything was fine and ganged up on me. I got furious and rode away deciding to take my issue elsewhere, seeing as it was futile. I'd barely ridden a km when I started feeling hot liquid on my legs. Lo and behold! OIL LEAK! I rode back to the service centre and now, understandably, they were much more obsequious and sheepish. I took pictures and a video of the leak and found much to my shock that there was a missing bolt on the left side of my engine head.

I called RE customer care and was put on call with the Territory manager (or something like that) - he sounded like he empathised with me and assured me that everything's going to be fine. The bike was taken back in and I was told the leak was because they'd over-tightened one of the bolts. After another 3 hour wait, I was told that they don't have the bolt (rocker bolt i believe they called it) and that they'd have to bring it in tomorrow from another town and that i'd have to leave the bike overnight.

Now, because of my lack of technical expertise, even if they "Fix" this problem adequately, my trust in the bike has been seriously undermined. Now, i'm not inclined to believe that it really was "nothing" one month ago. I'm seriously at a loss and was wondering if one of the more technically sound community members could help me out here.

I can attach pics of the leak and this 'bolt" (which I took with me) which apparently is a "single use bolt" and replacing which (at the right torque setting) will magically solve all my issues. I have completely lost all trust with the people concerned and I'm super worried about damage that's been happening/has happened to my bike already. Any leads/insights will be deeply appreciated.

I want to know how to go about inspecting the condition of my engine parts etc and check for damage due to 1500 km of presumably sub-optimum conditions brought about by apparent negligence. And I also would like to know if the service centre guys are exploiting my lack of technical know how and taking me for a ride with some nonsense explanations

Again, sorry for this self-indulgent post (i've attached pics of the leak, the gaping "unbolted hole" and the "rocker bolt" which is seemingly the magical missing piece)

Looks like a simple case of messed up valve adjustment(too tight) , oil splutter from head is a clear sign, missing bolt is another idiotic thing on their part, probably the gasket wasn't also properly set.
The catcon noise is prob the rattling sump guard another useless accessories placed incorrectly.

Keep things on record , video paper , msg and shoot a mail to re .
Don't worry things would be resolved.
