  • I still haven't received mine, since booking 2 months ago. Yesterday I called up the showroom and inquired; Apparently RE will only release the 2121 model to the showrooms in at start of a new financial quarter, which is today. Hoping for some good news soon.

Oh, and since I was back in Bangalore for a month, I decided to get a motorcycle and go for a small ride with my friend, who owns an interceptor. the GT I got was a BS4, and my friend has a BS6. And the difference in the feel of both engines are quite apparent. The BS6 felt smoother, but seems to have lost the mechanical feel and sound of the BS4.

Unlike old Carb engines and BS3 fuel standards, Modern Fi engines and new BS6 fuel can be good with even kept with upto 3-6months of old shelf life, the fuel would be fine without losing its properties, so draining fuel should not be needed.
For battery, you can take a call, get it refilled with distilled water(if needed) and charged up once you are back.

I wouldn't recommended over handing keys to RE guys or someone unsupervised on my behalf without your absence. If you know trustworthy rider friend who can take your bike keep it, start it up and ride it around for 2kms once every 2 days at his place then that I'd recommend.
Thanks dude! I am so relieved to learn that interceptor should be good for upto 3 months. Its barely six months old, and i really dont want rusting to pace up before it needs to. Battery i still feel can be replaced worst case, but good to know internals dont get damaged by the latest fuels.
Nevertheless i also understand these are unprecedented times, the last thing i want to do is to travel just for the sake of my bike and probably add in to the menace.

      Stay safe man!

Would also love to hear from others what their experiences have been from leaving an interceptor for like 3 months

      • I had to leave me my interceptor 650 bs6 in the Parking for 6 months roughly. Though not advised didnt have much options since I had to fly back home at the last moment. The bike started up after 6 months at the first button press. No issues at all. Filled fuel checked tire pressure and rode roughly 600 kms the next day to bring my bike back home. No issues at all. Serviced it after coming back. Running like a champ since then.

        • Hey Kanahanin,

Thanks for your response. This reply definitely helps as we are moving towards a worse situation and travelling does seem like the worst option.

I was also evaluating using packer mover or transport by train. But if 6 months is doable, i would want to take that chance.

          Cheers!

Thanks. Good to know that, i came to my hometown in march end, but not sure when i go back. Earlier plan was to go back by June end, but not sure in these times. I would have rode it to hometown if it was less than 700kms, but its almost 1700kms. Btw my old unicorn also still had battery charge left after 6 and half months later last time. I kicked the engine stater a few times, then tried with self starter 4-5 times and it started. Int650 being an FI bike, i think it should start with much fuss, if battery has some charge left.

You missed the main point, its not about bike wont start. But it needs some care and cleanup before trying to start it. Without which the bike might be damaged.

Oil and fuel would be stagnate and all gung collected at the bottom. If the timeline is beyond manufacturer drain interval, then oil would've lost its properties. Hence either getting oil drained or shaken before trying to start the bike is important.

Same with fuel which loose its properties after 3-6months of stagnated storage.

                  • Hi guys,
I have just got my Interceptor orange crush delivered a couple of days back, and I am very new to this ownership forum.

Can anyone confirm if changing the stock air filter to after-market ones like DNA or K&N will void the warranty or not?
                    Thanks,
                    Jo

I am not entirely sure if it does or doesn't. Worst case scenario, you can simply switch to the stock air filter before visiting the SVC.

                      • So, I got my Interceptor two days ago. Since it's lockdown, I haven't really gone anywhere, except for a few nearby places within 5 Kms.

Thanks for the tips. By the time i go back, it would be overdue for next servicing. So if it starts after shaking etc, i will directly goto service center first thing, which us like 2kms away.

                          • Hi all I booked interceptor 650 today
Waiting period is 3-4 months they said

I used to ride my father's passion pro and Activa
Always wanted to own a better powered bike
first in college (2012) was dreaming abt ns200, then duke 200, then it was cbr 250 , then came duke 390 ( was there for long ) and then ktm adv 390 last year
But I never ever thought I would go for a RE bike
Thought so much and after taking a test drive bought the twin cylinder bike finally. I don't know if I made the right decisio. I just like the feel of the bike's power delivery better than ktm 390.

Usually, any such change technically voids the warranty. However, I suggest you run it stock for at least 6 months or the first 2 services.
