  • It's been 2.5 years since my continental gt 650 and due to working from home and the frequent lockdowns and some neglect on my part, the bike's battery doesn't hold a charge at all anymore. And to my utter disappointment, the Exide etx14 battery that fits the bike is out of stock everywhere in Bangalore. Even SVC said, they can't help source the battery. And to add insult to injury no other manufacturer makes a 12Ah battery. Tried installing the 14ah Exide 12XL14L-A2, but it doesn't fit, the third bracket from the toolbox comes in the way. Has anyone replaced their stock battery, if yes where did you get it from? If you installed a different capacity or manufacturer, which one did you install? And how is it running?

Why not? Its is cheap solution to a potential threat. I also do offroads and I ride in NCR only. However, radiator and sump guard were the firsts of the accessories I got installed on the bike. Costed me around 2500-2700 bucks.

      • Hi All, It's been 2.1 years since I purchased Interceptor 650 and now the Amaron battery has given up. It's dead, the bike's battery doesn't hold a charge at all anymore.

I am now looking for a new battery, Exide ETX14 battery. But it's out of stock everywhere in Dehradun. Even SVC said, they can't help source the battery. And to add insult to injury no other manufacturer makes a 12Ah battery. Has anyone replaced their stock battery, if yes where did you get it from? Bike is sitting idle since last few days, request to help. I am located in Dehradun. If anyone can help in this regard (Rishikesh/Haridwar/Roorkee are nearby).

        • Hello, I own a 2021 Bs6 model Interceptor. It has clocked ~3600 kms.

The bike seems to have a rattling feel to it which increases as the engine heats up. I do feel some amount of vibrations at handle bars and near the fuel tank. Something like a few metallic thingies are left inside the engine to jump around. I get the suspicion as if some components are running dry.

I have ridden a couple of other interceptors, which I have felt to be running smoother and tighter than mine. They all were well beyond 7-8000 kms on odometer. One my friend who owns an interceptor does not feel much of a difference in his and my bike, while I feel it

I did visit a couple of RE service center nearby but they sounded clueless about it. Here I would like to mention that I live in a small town in Punjab, and the nearby RE service center mechanics do not seem to have an extensive experience of working with Interceptors.

My motorcycle is in its stock condition. I have added polytron metal treatment (150 ml) to the engine oil very recently, in an attempt to reduce some friction and heat. However, it is not making much of a difference in my experience.

Any suggestions, if there could be a probable issue with the bike and I should get it checked at some other mechanic/service center; or, it is normal and the engine is still on the way to attain its real smooth character and clock more miles, till the next engine oil change at 5000 kilometers ?

          Thanks.

My mechanic (not an RE employee) told me the sump guards are a bad idea as a lot of muck and grime gets collected between the sump guard and the engine. Which is also tough to clean because of how inaccessible it is. A crash guard is enough to protect the engine even from below.

            • Hello People,

I have booked an intercepter with the new touring seat offered as an accessory. Is it any good or did I just paid for getting bike early?

Also, what are the waiting times? my dealer told me 60-70 days since I opted for couple accessories (the newer touring seat and a sump guard.

Please let me know if the seat is any good.

                • After very long time I am writing something in XBHP.
After I fractured my knee playing football, I sold my beloved R15 V2. Though it was running smooth even after 17k on the odo.
Yes, 17k is very less in his 8 years of usage. I was outside India for few years and the bike was simply parked at my hometown.

Now after break, thinking of getting back to riding. And I have my eyes on INT650.
Did few test rides. I also tried looking for used INT650.

Last Sunday took a test ride at Avahan RE, Kalyan nagar, Bangalore.
The showroom staff were lethargic, as it was a Sunday evening. But they were happily helped with test ride of INT650 and Conti650.
During the test ride the INT650 was felt very smooth, but I felt lot of rattling in the conti650 (May be it was not serviced for a while)

Even though I was impressed by the looks of conti650, I decided to go with the INT650. Thinking at some point I will be accompanied by wife and kid. :-)
I was told that the INT650 has a waiting period between 3-5 months. So I left the showroom thinking if I can ask others showrooms too.

But today (Thursday) I got a call from Avahan that they have a bike(Baker Express color) in transit, which they can allocate to me from their Kothanur branch.
But I need to make a payment of 10k against booking fee and have to make full payment via bank transfer.

Me being not in Bangalore city, thinking of sending a friend to enquire more about this showroom.
Hopefully things will go smooth and I can at least book the bike for now remotely. Only make the full payment only after seeing them personally after New year.

                  • Hi guys need some advice on the following:

I bought a used baker express recently. It has run 3000 kms and less then a year old.

I am facing a strange issue of bike not cranking in one self. It trys to start reaches about 1000-1200 rpm and then dies. So I have to try 2-3 times and then it starts.I have a video of the same but was not able to uploadnit here. It happens randomly.

I went to the service station and they narrowed the issue down to throttle body and confirmed they will replace it.

I recently got the bike serviced (2nd free service) the bike felt smooth on delivery but somehow it feels buzzy to me after I gave it for checking starting issue.

Feels like something is holding the bike back or like the engine is not able to open itself properly. Could the faulty throttle body be the reason. Bike felt smoother before the service.

                    Please suggest.

                    • Hi guys! My interceptor had a static fall to the right side 1.5 years ago when I was trying to put it up on the centre stand. Long story short, the steering has felt like it's tilted to the right since then - When I'm riding the bike straight, it feels like it's pointing to the right just a little bit - a couple of degrees maybe. Annoys the crap out of me. After numerous unsuccessful attempts to get various mechanics to fix the issue, I found one Royal Enfield service centre that agreed with me that the bike wasn't actually straight. They offered me a chassis, fork and complete front end replacement which left me thinking that I'd solved this nightmare issue at last - sadly, after a month and a half of waiting - it still feels like my left arm is just a tinny bit further ahead when I ride the bike straight - any advice will be helpful. I have a suspicion that they didn't actually replace all the parts that they were meant to.. Or is tiny bit of a tilt something natural that all you guys are experiencing? I don't recall feeling this on my first 5000 kms or so - please help!

                      • I'm looking for a used interceptor 650 these days and checked 2 bikes so far. One of them was Nov-20 model with ~11000 km on odo and had a very free revving engine and felt smooth to ride. The other is Oct-21 model with ~4000 km and felt a bit hesitant to rev beyond 6000 rpm. Also, it heated up more than the other bike and felt a bit sluggish in 1st gear. Could there be some serious issue with the second bike or is it just due to the fact that engine hasn't opened up yet due to the age and less running?

                        • Well with or without any response to my last post, I had to make a decision so I went for the newer one which is just 7 months and 4000 km old. All I can say is this is unlike anything I've ridden before. Cars on highways don't expect a 2 wheeler to overtake them at a speed of 120 kmph but this beast just flies past the cars that are still accelerating after getting stuck behind a trucks race (you know what I mean). The power is literally available on demand and it pulls in a spirited manner atleast till 140 kmph, the point at which I run out of road to increase the speed any further. And yes, one thing that I couldn't test out before making the purchase was the infamous handle wobble at high speeds and I literally took a leap of faith on this motorcycle. Happy to report that the handle remains straight as an arrow even if I leave the handle bar at a speed of ~120 kmph. Fyi, I've kept the tyre pressure as per owner's manual (32F and 36R).

Keeping aside the pain of lugging this heavy motorcycle in city traffic, this engine is an absolute charmer on highways. It feels rock solid at 100+ speeds and the build quality is suprisingly good for a Royal Enfield. It literally feels like a gun when I hold low speeds with slight feedback of those heavy pistons rumbling in handlebar. Heard a lot about insufficient headlights but I think it's just fine for a stock headlamp with acceptable level of illumination, although a good led kit won't hurt especially when usual idiots on Indian roads come from opposite side with high beam on an undivided road. Front suspension feels on the stiffer side, probably because I'm leaning on handlebar and putting weight on my wrists which get direct feedback of road surface. Also, my lower back is paining a lot after ~100 km of continuous riding due to that slight leaned in position. I think handle bar raisers are the need of the hour. I used to think I'm going to miss gear position indicator on this one since so many "experienced" reviewers complained of that but 2 days of riding and I can now tell the exact gear by just looking at the speed and engine rpm for flash of a second. I think it's more about that connection and feel of the motorcycle that tells me the gear so accurately. No offense to anyone but after few days of riding, if you're still missing a gear position indicator then I think he/she would be better off with an automatic scooter rather than this.

All in all, this motorcycle has a soul and I feel connected to it in some mysterious way. Maybe that's what the cult following of RE is all about!

I don't have it on my motorcycle buddy. Hard to say what could be the issue, it could be anything on the front end starting from handlebar. Try to recall which part hit the ground when you dropped the motorcycle.

Congratulations Chriz, guess you have spewed everything you had to feel and experience about this motorcycle. Keep the thread updated and yes xBhp has become a silent specter these days, but that shouldn't diss you from sharing your experiences.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                              The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

                              THE END

Thanks buddy, you seem to be the only one alive here

Anyway, monsoon is here in Pune for a few days and rains start threatening me everytime I try to take my motorcycle out. Since I was away from anything on 2 wheels for so many years, I feel a bit nervous to ride on wet roads so really keeping indoors as of now. Got the carbon racing windshield and new seat installed. The windshield takes away the wind blast from chest but there's a lot of buffeting on helmet below 80-90 kph. Above that speed, the wind starts getting deflected above my head so basically it does it's job at highway speeds. The seat has been thoroughly modified by adding some good quality foam and now it seems way better than the stock one.

The bike is a bit soiled right now so not posting the full pics but the seat can be seen.

Next up on the list are backrest, saddle stay, led headlamps (aux lights?) and a switch to turn off headlights. Any suggestions for some good lighting solutions?
