  • [Ownership Thread]: Yamaha FZ / FZS FI Version 3.0

I have searched for Yamaha FZ-S Fi ownership/user reviews on xBhp for the last few days and I couldn't any specific group.
So, I request the admin to approve this thread.

I feel this bike isn't a looker. But I thought the engine will make up for that but sadly the engine too seems badly made. Vibes on handlebar after 4k rpm and bloody hard gearbox, I mean sometimes I just give up on shifting. Either you can't shift or the shift results in a very loud thud.

Use pulsar bar end weights in handlebar to reduce vibrations and after 3k kilometers gearbox will become smooth [emoji106]

No that's the thing, the bike has crossed 3.6k kms. I rode a v2 the other day which had < 3k kms and felt the shifts to be effortless. My main motivation to buy this bike was the smooth shifts i had seen in v2.
Even my friends are scratching their heads with the gearbox's condition.

I had taken it the service center after an official complaint to Yamaha and the mechanic told he adjusted some spring tension in the gear assembly but nothing seems to have changed. I'm looking forward to claim warranty or sell it.

Congratulations. Good Luck. Matte Black looks better IMO.

I took delivery of my Matte Blue bike on Monday. After that is the obvious mandatory pooja, performed by myself [emoji16] as the priest wasn't available. I then rode home.
The engine was smooth and the gear shifts slick. The suspension is soft and the potholes are not a big problem.
The only con for now is that the rear brake is lacking in bite. However this is due to the fact that, disc brake needs to wear a few days for the bite to develop.
Couldn't enjoy the bike much as it is continuously raining in Vizag for the past two days.
Waiting for clear skies and empty roads [emoji16]

Congrats on getting new motorcycle [emoji106]
Hope to see you have good experience with it.

Btw, please do update on the engine & gearbox after you have completed proper break-in period, because most owners are having issues.

Regarding rear brake, it won't be equal or similar to that of the front brake. But biting will improve with time. If you have switched from using rear drum brake motorcycle then please do use proper braking technique else you will end up in wheel locking.

Will update on the engine after break in period. As of now I'm revving up to a max rpm of 5000.

This is my first bike and I have never ridden an FZ before. I rode my friends Karizma and Hornet occasionally.

Coming to brakes, I actually use both the front and rear brakes. Similar to the technique detailed in the braking thread of this xBhp topic The Art of safe riding https://www.xbhp.com/talkies/forumdisplay.php?f=156.

I learnt most of the riding techniques and jargon from xBhp and picked up a few from 'YouTube' and 'The twist of the wrist'.
