I have a 2004 TVS Victor GL that has done 46700KM on the odo and has always been a reliable bike. My original chain ran for 43000Km before it had to be changed. All that I every changed were:
Rear tire after 4-1/2 years.
Spark plugs every 1-1/2 years
Brakes every 1-1/2 to 2 years
Chain after almost 6 years
Battery after 5 years
As you can see every item in the list forms part of regular wear and tear. No clutch issues, no carb issues. Part of this reliability could be the fact that I do minor servicing on my bike from time to time. The best part is that the spare parts don't burn holes in your pockets. My entire family is on TVS:
Me, TVS Victor
Mom Scooty Pep
Dad TVS Suzuki (20+ years old) My dad will swear by the quality of his machine. Thanks TVS!

little thing that made my bike good
hi guys,
I have been using tvs victor for around 4 years,an year ago i faced some sort of probs in engine engine shuts off at running, and when this happens i have kick for atleast 5 mins
phooooooo .............. that wasn't so cool then i took my bike to the service center after a month from the service the same thing also happens.................
i searched tvs victor's community in orkut they said that, the problem was due to the deposit of dust in lid of the tank..... so i cleaned it up.... but i wasn't happy enough to ride my bike. So i moved to another workshop of my friend he decarbonized my engine washed it changed the valves clutche plate etc ..... that made my bike better to some extend
then i search for simple modification
then i happened to hear about the iridium spark plugs from ngk...... when i had them my bike could run below 25km in th 4th gears without even touching the clutch lever ............ it also gave me power and mileage
The best thing is that, it even increased my bikes acceleration . my bikes model was cr6hix

now that's cool na.......................

Feels Good to hear that you regained your bike's true form. Can you tell us more about the improvements after the fitment of iridium plug!!

With Pleasure
Hi,
Using iridium plug, with all these pleasures you need to be careful about something that, when you are servicing your bike you need to tell your service center that not to touch bike's plug
...... When you didn't they will change your plug
...... Don't clean your plugs
because when you observe your iridium plug with normal plug you can see that it is pointed
inorder to keep that you need to keep your plug untouched.....

I recommend ngk iridium spark plugs for indian bikes to get performance than changing your bikes air filter..
because there are no specifc k&n air filters for indian bikes but ngk do have and it also didn't change your bikes sound and never decreases your bikes mileage rather than that it increases the mileage.. Ya I know this sounds crazy that it can't increase the power that k&n airfilters do but also note that when airfilter didn't fix the right way it should be it could increase the engine temperature and the bike gets stopped.. there is no such problems in using ngk iridium plugs

guys stop worrying use castrol power1, its quite natural for replacing your accelerator cable after 23,000kms it say's quality man using splender you have to change your bike's accelerator cable after 15,000kms... and splender changes it's chain and sprocket in 16,000 but i only need to change mine in 30,000kms and the parts are are much cheaper compared to another bikes......So don't change your bike just do as yor bike as i wrote earlier....

TVS Victor GL 2004
I have been driving Victor GL 2004 since last year(2010). It read 30000 when i got to ride it. It was the time I put it into real test. its been one year and the current reading is 50000
. the bike seems very much reliable. I went on long trips around bangalore, farthest being Yercaud(550km trip)
. I ride it to my college everyday around 50 km.
The bike is very good in city as well as highway. Pick up is good, but when compared with bajaj caliber, its low. I have touched upto 100kmph
on highway, reaches 90kmph easily.
Well after so much of rough and tough riding, it needed some assistance. So i installed
Ceat Grip Tyre - size 3.00-17 for ....Rs.1850.......... (for wet roads)
Camshaft -................................. Rs.700........... (bike was making kata-kata-kata sound)
small chain for camshaft-.............. Rs.300
Clutch Center apparatus-.............. Rs.380........... (worn out)
Clutch plates-............................. Rs.360........... (apache's)(bike was giving jerks)
Oil and Fork rubbers for shockers-....Rs.250............(oil leak)
Gasket set-................................ Rs. 120...........(oil was leaking on cylinder)
Engine oil - Shell advance.............. Rs. 337
Now it feels so new again. Wanna go for a trip after my exams...
Its a reliable bike. I dont know km/l mileage but it used to go 125km for Rs.200 petrol (@ Rs.74/L). Mechanic said that it will give better mileage once the repairs are done. Have to check it now.

Dude i just changed the Head lamp. Not for style statement but i found that headlamp of victor is very sensitive..breaks off even if your bike falls at parking. The setting of beam in correct position is very difficult, the clamps rise and light goes into sky..Originally posted by anishkrissh View Postdid anyone modified you tvs victor gl ............if so, please post those photos
Thus i repleced it with a Shogun standard Box headlight. It looks quiet good and the quality of light is also very good.
As per my suggestion, for bikes like victor, go for engine power enhancement rather than body or colour modification.

Modified Victor GLX 125

I modified my TVS GLX 125 cc regarding headlights
I put a scooter regulator of 80 watts in parallel only for headlight
Now my bike has a 60/55 watts Philips Extreme power bulb and also I can put an additional 20-25 watts bulb.
I am looking for an LED auxiliary headlight .
I am using this setup for more than 3 years without any problem
I changed to the round headlight of Discover 125(The older version of Bajaj discover which had 60/55 watts bulb)
The round headlight of discover is larger hence more good focus
Unbelievably,I get a clear visibility of around 500 meters while driving my bike at night on highways
Another change I done is increase in Carburettor main jet size
Main jet of GLX is 87.5 number
I got a main jet of Bullet 350 which is 90 number
I got amazing results
smoothness in ride around 70 kph and surprisingly no change in mileage and slight increase in top speed.Earlier my bike used to struggle around 90 now it reaches till 100 kph and on gentle slopes with straight roads,I touched even 115 kph
The only drawback is that the engine firing sound is little bit ruff due to that large main jet(Firing is little bit like Yamaha YBX 125)
Currently I am looking for durable clutch plates.
I have heard about fiber clutch plates but dont know where to get from Pune/Mumbai
I purchased Yamaha RX 135 clutch plates(6 clutch plates) but they dont fit in my GLX clutch.
Also the clutch drum houses only 4 clutch plates.I want to know whether can I house 5 clutch plates in the clutch drum?
Because so far I know,if you have 5 clutch plates for 4 geared bike, the gear transmission is smooth and the power delivery to the wheel from engine is good.
Regards
Pankaj
