Is anybody using castrol active or Power one in flame SR 125. what is the best engine oil for Flame SR 125?

With regard to my bike....have completed 43,000+ kms and my experience with it is really good.....after completing around 40,000+ kms I can find out there is some problem with the timing chain and have to get it replaced... this occured as I was riding my bike for 100 kms daily for a week or so.....

Checked out with Tristar service station in Domlur and they informed that the timing chain has to get replaced which will cost around Rs. 650 and they have to do a engine over oiling..... through which the milege will increase for around 5kms and also the engine will be smooth and longlasting....Total cost will go up to around 3000+

What's ur suggestion guys......?????

What engine oil do you use in your flame. I have Flame SR, currently using motul 20W40.

I use TVS engine oil....I was totally comfortable with it....

I owned TVS Flame bought in around 2008 when it was 1st launched.
Bike is very well balanced for City Drive but problem starts after it goes above speed of 60. Its body does rattles at higher speeds. I have told this to TVS Service guys about it but they don't see it as a problem.
I would like to have some advise for the following.
Why it is not recommended to Service our bike at Authorized Service Station after some time?
The reason I am asking is because from my last service I am facing problems with my bike.
After service my engine black color has started to peel off. When I told them about this problem they say it is because of pressure of water which they use to clean the engine. Now I am confused because is their paint quality that low that it comes out because of water? I didn't see this in other bikes like Honda, Yamaha.
My bike has started to Stall means engine sudden stops at Signal if I don't give acceleration.
Initially bike's average was around 55Km, but now it is around 40/45km.

So any help regarding how to help in improving performance of my bike will be appreciated.
Also there are some scratch marks on my bike's body, how to get rid of it?.

Good to see that people are happy with FLAME

Perhaps i would be one of the many Loyal customers of TVS who lost Hope with TVS after purchasing FLAME, and the Horrible makeover that they have given to their Flagship model APACHE, TVS needs a real rethinking strategy

You guys would not believe when you hear the Resale price of Flame, its just 12K for 2008 model here in Chennai - the Bike is in a proper run-in condition, but this price quoted from the own TVS Showroom itself - they are not promoting their own products - god a 5 year old Splendour sells for 20K, the only word of reply is C**P.....

Whatever you do the Bike is a total Flop - this is not the only failure model from TVS - but adversely the Biggest failure model ever,

Almost all the TVS Centres that i visited in bangalore or in chennai - everyone recommending to sell the bike because in another two years the bike will not be taken for exchange in TVS Showrooms and local shops will only take it for lesser than 5K and when i ask them to service they say that there is nothing much can be changed from this bike - whatever service they do the bike will not give good mileage and starting problems and stalling problems will always come.

No surprise that the manufacturing and retailing of the bike has been stopped in INDIA.

Current scenario in Pune the city with highest two wheelers in India

From almost 2 years in Pune,I have not seen anybody purchasing a new TVS flame
reason because TVS has Star City in 110 cc segment
Star sport in 100 cc segment
Apache RTR in 160 and 180 cc segment

TVS is not at all interested in 125 cc and 150 cc bikes
TVS showrooms also are not interested in selling Flame and no advertisements for flame from 3 years

Flame is no more Purchased by any of the dealers - because its a Complete Problematic Bike - and Allover Tamilnadu its Unofficially announced as a Flop Model and in even Second hand bike shops are not taking FLAME for sale - Only few Odd Bikes including Mine are seen in Roads....
It has Lot of technical Problems in it
** No Fuel Tap
** No Front Speedo Cable
** Without battery Bike cannot be Operated
** 6 1/2 Litre Fuel Tank capacity

But there are also some good things they are - Build Quality is amazing Minus the Engine Build Quality - Very good handling with its Wide Handles and easy maneuvering in the city

hey! iam having 2008 tvs flame model.......having problem with digital clock....in it the time runs faster.....in two days it become 1 min ahead of original time..
have u ever had this problem? And how to resolve it.
