Maybe your Engine is running on a lean mixture.Ask your SS guy to adjust the mixture.Even the Engine oil affects the engine and vibes alot.Which one are you using. If you are using the ones which your ss guys are giving then better upgrade to some better oil.And also ask the ss guy to thighten all the nuts and bolts on your bike.I hope i was of some help to you.Ride SAFE.

Mean while had a test drive with the New FLAME SR125......
There is not much cosmetic changes to the bike....
            1) Handlebar Guard is given in Full Black
            2) SR125 stickering in the place of CCVTI in the older Flame's
            3) 100 Tyre in the back instead of the 90 tyres in older Flame's
            4) Lesser vibrations than its Older version
            5) Much solid Pickup toooo....
            6) It has been said that the Top speed and Mileage are conmparaitively less that the Older Flame coz of the raise in Low END Torque and bigger rear tyres.......

My experience on my full black Flame SR 125

                  Hello Flame Owners,

I bought the all black version of TVS Flame SR 125 on 14th July 2009.

The main reason for choosing Flame series is because of its style, design and innovation. The black color flame is the even more attractive and tempting.

Actually this is my first bike and I'm not a good biker or to say that I don't even know how to ride a bike properly. Whenever I slow down the machine it will halt. I was very poor in gear ratio.

I came to know that SR 125 was improved in low end torque and requires lesser gear shifting, I felt very happy and decided to go for it. SR 125 kept its promise, even on a very congested traffic I ride in 3rd gear at 15 to 20 kmph and no jerks in the bike. This is what I want - no trouble until I learn.

Very fast within 1 week I learned to ride my bike as smooth as possible. Now, I'm very comfortable with my bike and learned the rhythm of engine. I highly recommend Flame SR 125 for beginners.

The front disc brake is very reliable and stops the vehicle immediately at times of emergency (but I use it only in traffic and slow speed) however I use rear brake only whenever I reach above 50. Once, the rear brake itself locked the tyre (at 60kmph but nothing happened, the bike stood upright though skidded a bit - I was amazed by this reliability) when I used it heavily. So, I think there will be no use for front brakes.

The majestic appearance of the bike attracts everyone. Even the higher CC bikes can't compete with Flame in attraction department. Wherever I go people ask me what is the price, mileage, etc... and they will be surprised by its low on-road price. Even after 2 years Flame still has the fire to ignite the hearts of onlookers.

The only problem that I face as other previous version Flame owners is the coldstart problem. I thought TVS would have fixed that problem but they failed to do that. I think the previous version of Flame doesn't have the fuel knob to turn on/off the fuel but Flame SR 125 does have and also the vaccum fuel close technique (It was mentioned by Thunder in some thread - A small tick sound from fuel tank). At night I used to turn it off and in morning I used to have starting problem. Later one day I left the knob in on position and the next day morning the bike started in 2 kicks. I was bit surprised and understood that fuel knob has something to do with this problem. Now I don't experience the coldstart problem if the knob is kept on always.

Regarding vibration - I don't feel any vibration at higher speeds on 4th gear (BTW- I haven't drove faster than 80 kmph because my bike haven't completed even 1st service). In second and third gear at full throttle I feel slight vibration on the head assembly but not that much vibration on handle bar or on foot pegs. So, it doesn't affect the riding experience.

I want Flame owners to please answer some of my queries-

Once when my ODO meter displayed 230 km, I pressed the set button and thought that it will not reset the ODO readings but it became 0 km . Is it normal and have you ever experienced the same.

My important query is about fuel. What fuel do you use for your flame. Is it speed, xtra premium or ordinary petrol. I think speed is good, because right after purchase I was using speed and my vehicle was running both smooth and fast. Then one day my friend told that speed will harm the engine so I filled the ordinary petrol. Now my bike is very fast, I mean that even if I give a little bit of gas it pulls my vehicle with immense power. However there isn't too much improvement at higher speed. I feel that speed gives uniformity. Some of my friends told that you rode the bike at higher speed (i.e. above 50kmph) before first service and this damaged the engine which is the reason for this irregularity. I badly need your suggestion in this regard.

Despite everything, I just love my full black Flame SR 125 and feel like GOD riding on her. A lot of innovation on a single machine but Bajaj is spoiling her name because of jealousy.

                    Hi,

Happy to see a fellow owner appreciating Flame...
Its one of its Kind of bike - which has both the meanes Power and mileage...
Yes reg the ODO resetting i do had the same problem - but i was a bit early as i finished just 56KM and done the reset...and it got reseted...
I asked this to the TVS Guys....and they too tested and said Yes....
It was a mistake by the SIEMENS the Digital meterof Flame....
Since this issue is of not a big deal.....this was not raised by me in a big manner...

I recommend you to use the ordinary Petrol...do not belive on the so called Speed, Xtrapremium and all.....
Im not sure who said to ride you in higher speeds before first service....
You have to keep your bike in the Economy Mode....thats it
in Economy mode Flame will reach 75KM/hr
After first service i would recommend to Rip ur bike in top End for a long trip...This will make the engine softer in city traffics...
You will be unhappy with the Gearshifts....so change the oil to any Semi-synthetic Oil .....

                    Ping me for any clarifications......

                      Hi guys..

Hi guys... I also own the amazing bike "TVS FLAME 125CC" black with red color (drum brakes) . I purchased this bike in Dec 08. Liked this bke a lot but the only problem is my bike vibrates a lot and also I skid a lot from my bike..

                      Any suggesstions would be great.....

Made a trip of 350 kms in a day and had no problems...but fell from the bike while doing a cornering as there was some gravel on the road...
I don't know where the bike ends and I begin...If heaven doesn't allow bikes..I'll ride mine straight to hell.

                        Hi Thunder,

                        Thanks for your valuable suggestions.

Now I have no complaints about my bike, everything is fine (no starting problem and runs very smoothly, quick pickup and powerful cum reliable disc brakes) except mild vibration beyond 60kmph. Do you have any suggestion to reduce vibration.

Also, I would like to know whether it is essential to change the oil (TVS oil) because I don't think so I have problem in gear shifting. Anyway if changing the oil is good for my bike then I will do it. Please specify the oil brand.

Flame is really a good bike except for the vibration.
Coming to your problem, gravel is a big problem for bike riders. Cornering on gravel is dangerous and it is not the fault of your bike because gravel will reduce the Tyre contact with the surface and results in skidding.

The lining on both the front and back tyres of my bike (SR 125) seems fine and hope the same pattern will be on yours too. However my rear tyre is bit wider. If the lining on your tyre (especially front) is damaged or worn out then you have to replace the tyres but since your bike is not even 1 year old, I don't think so it may be the reason if at all you used to ride on worst roads.

Another important reason for skidding may be air pressure in your wheels. Whenever you refill the fuel check your tyres air pressure. 25 PSI is recommended for front tyre of the Flame. If your bike skids with this amount of pressure then reduce the air pressure, it will improve road contact and will definitely avoid skidding. However, mileage will be affected.

Finally, using the brake effectively will greatly reduce this problem. In the beginning (before buying my bike) I also had the same problem but now I'm confidently using the brake to stop my vehicle within couple of meters even at high speed. What I learned is that always start braking with the rear brake then depress the front brake, and make sure that your vehicle is upright and is in a straight line, this works effectively for me. And by the way I must say that disc brakes of my bike is the reason for this great efficiency but I don't why people say that disc brakes will cause skidding.

Hope these 3 (tyre lining, tyre pressure, braking rules) simple tips will help you.

                                how to change oil

Even I wish to change the oil.

My bike is about to complete 1000 km and have done first service at 400+.

Now, the problem is I don't know how to change the oil i.e. how to drain the old oil.

Should I invert my bike upside down to get the old oil out

And someone please suggest me some good oil. Shall I continue to use TVS oil or should I get some other oil.

Also please tell me how to check whether metal shavings are present inside my engine. I think I'm getting a small metal sound (like ball rings running inside the engine) which wasn't present before. I doubt this is the problem of metal shavings.

Experienced flame owners, please clarify my doubts.
