    @kolarphani :
    Welcome to XBHP,

    Where are you from?

As far as i know only one member(thunder) owns flame here, he may be able to help you regarding the above mentioned queries..

And about the wheel change, if you fit in a wider tyre then you will loose on handling..

I had recently purchased TVS Flame and completed the second service. This is my first bike and bought this as it was looking good and I have been dreaming to own a bike for so many years, finally bought this bike.

I ride around 30 km per day, carrying a laptop on my back. I am having the following problems and request your valuable advices:

        1. The suspension is very bad, and it's bumpy. I had complained to Service guys, but the problem is still there.
        2. I also feel not that stable when riding this bike. Braking also not so great and I actually felt down once.
        3. I don't ride on much speed, and my avg speed is around 50 kmph. I hear lot of noise from bike, like some parts are getting removed.

Also, I want to enhance this bike with few modifications and request your advice:
        1. Can I upgrade my rear-wheel to a wider one and if so, what's would be correct size?
        2. I also, like to put some cosmetic changes and request your advice on that too.

Friends, this is my first post and great appreciate your valuable suggestions.

Mods: I have searched for my above queries and could not find much information specific to Flame. Hence, request you to approve this post.

        regards,
        kp
Well happy to meet a Fellow Flame rider in XBHP
Coz i was the all alone guy here
Well im also riding the flame for 30kms for daily purpose
But im a experienced biker and this is my fifth bike

        Ok coming to the point
1 - The suspension is good - but the case is check your shocks adjustments - it should be settled to in Hard Mode - ask the engineers to change the suspensions spring to soft

2 - Well braking is a superb thing in flame compared to the useless rear brakes of P200 and RTR - the rear brake is stiff and brakes effectively - i belive your way of braking should be changed - learn to break effectively
By the way you have disc version or Drum Version????

3 - Yes you will hear some kind of engine screwing noise while riding - some kind of plastic cover swinging with your bike - it is the mode of Flame - the lack of one spark plug has made the engine sound like that - there is no probs in that.

Update me with some more info
1 - have you finsihed the RUNIN period? - if yes how much ur ODO is showing
2 - have you maintained her perfectly within 40-50 in the runin period
3 - How much is your weight
4 - how much is your height
5 - You have disc version or Drum version
6 - you have the two spark plugged thing or single spark pluugged thing

Well atlast Flame does has some Issues - but all you have mentioned is no where related to the issues in the actual bike - reply me i will give you a suggestion

          2. I also, like to put some cosmetic changes and request your advice on that too.

          1. Suspension adjustments can be made to more softer settings as you ride in slower speeds and you would not require hard suspension settings. As far as I know, TVS Flame has a 5-step adjustment that can be made. Make sure BOTH your springs (left and right) are the same soft setting.

          2. I don't know about the brakes in Flame, but it is supposed to be one of the more stable 125cc's due to its slightly long swing-arm and wheelbase. Instability might also be due to an incorrect riding position. If you fell down while braking, then that means you applied the brakes incorrectly. I suggest that you use 65:35 ratio in speeds above 40kmph while braking. 65% front brakes and 35% rear brakes.

          3. For the noise issue, we have to find the source of the noise and if some parts are actually getting removed . Where exactly do you "hear" or "feel" the vibes? Get your front fairing screws checked and also chain guard screws.

          Regarding enhancement:

          1. You can upgrade your rear wheel to a 100/90-18 but not more than that. Be ready to sacrifice around 2-3 kmpl after this tire upgrade.

          2. I feel the flame is a good-looking 125cc. So I cannot suggest any cosmetic mods.

P.S:- I also suggest you get a good laptop bag. Or you could be looking at bad backaches in the future.

Mithun, brother, this is not an R15. In most bikes, its other way around.

I think it will actually improve cornering on Flame compared to 3.00 it uses. But as per his riding style, I do not think he will be cornering.

Try fitting a 120 section tyre on Unicorn and ride you will know what i meant

TVS(all companys) does lot of R&D and fits in the tyres especially the size, one way to improve the grip or what ever is to get a better quality rubber as TVS tyres are not that great.. This is what i wanted to say

Whats the stock tyre size of Flame?

Yes, mithun, I agree. 120 section will not improve the Unicorns Handling. I was comparing to his 3.00 TVS tires with a 100/90-18 Zapper.

The latest TVS Flame models come with 90/90-17 front and 90/90-18 rear. I am not sure which model he owns.

                      (A) - yeah, i never crossed 50 until last week, and last week, i tried to reach 60, and at 60, i see that bike vibrates a lot.
3 - How much is your weight
                      (A) I am of around 62 kg

hi Mithun, thanks for your reply with more details. I will be giving my bike for 3rd service somtime next week and ask the service guys to check all your suggestions.
I am already having a wildcraft laptop bag and let me see if I can find a better bag. Also, I checked with some local bike accessory shops for any option to attach bag to the side of the bike, but they said that we can not put any hook or any box to Flame, as it's designed such a way.
I will try to post pictures of my bike sometime this weekend, and thanks a lot for all your suggestions!!

Well with the INFO You have given me - it seems that my Flame is still younger than yours

Mine is only One month Older - and have done some 1500 in ODO
ANd your statistics also matches mine - so no probs in that

                              COming to your issues..............

1 - The back Shocks of Flame is good as a stock one - and you should change the shocks settings to Soft mode - this will do the job

2 - Learn the Mantra of Braking
DO not press the Liver completely for the rear - make sure you give a soft pressure - and predict your stoppings - if sudden braking is required Use both rear and front

3 - Using Disc brakes required a special training - it is not the same as Drum brakes - Flames Disc bites efectively and make sure you do not completely press the lever
Disc should be used only in emergency conditions
Disc should not be used at times of
                              1 - Sand surface
                              2 - Raini times
                              3 - Gravels
                              4 - While cornering
5 - While running downlane from a flyover or from a hill

4 - Flames handlebar is quite big and seating position is that - you have to somehow lean and handle the bike - for this you should adjust your seating position - sit straight and slightly bebd your hand knees and grab the handle - it will be like sitting as a GOD

5 - The engine sound will be one which feels you like something is getting loosened from your bike - no probs in that - do not feel different
It is there in all Mono spark Plugged Flames

By the way congrats brother - to be a partner of owning the same colored flame

hey Thunder, thanks a lot for the suggestions. I am very glad that some bike gurus also own flame, which raised my comfort levels.
i will try to check with other service center, as suggested above and see if all these things get fixed.
i really like the flame design and its value for money...but, was bit upset with these problems, but now, after seeing all ur suggestions, i am comfortable now...
thanks to all who gave valuable inputs and will try adjust my riding style too.

i will try to post some pictures by this weekend.
