Hello Everyone,
New member here, this is my first post in xbhp forum. Really happy to be part of xbhp.
I just purchased my Avenger street 220 four days back. Already done 250 kms. While purchasing motorcycle i had very bad experience with dealer and cant trust him for servicing my bike.
Is there is something special which needs to be done for first servicing which can only be done in authorized dealership? or can i get first servicing done from my regular mechanic also. I know getting it done from outside mechanic will void the warranty but i simply cannot trust that dealer.
Please advice.

I do want to get a backrest installed. The local Bajaj dealership has asked for a few days before they can get one for me. Their asking price is a little under 1k.
I also wanted the windshield, but that's for 4k! I expected something around 1.5-2k.
Now, I agree on the asking price of the backrest. But Windshield costs at around 2500/-
Them asking 4000/- is ridiculous.
I would suggest to get an aftermarket one for under Rs 1500/- or try another workshop.

I tried hitting neutral when the engine was off and that worked very well; thanks! Just a gentle tap worked, like you said. first check what models of Spark plugs you installed, they must be same as original one.
Secondly, smoke from engine means your piston rings are weakened and will need replacement of whole assembly ( Piston and cylinder ).
So try carb setting and air filter cleaning from other mechanic and see if smoke comes from exhaust.

I'm new in xbhp forum. Read a lot of great stuffs for the past few days.
I'm very new with motorcycles and bought an avenger 150 street one month back. It came with Eurogrip tyres and not with MRF Zappers.
Any new owner aware of this change?

Avenger 220 White smoke
hi All,
I'm new to xbhp. Need help please
Just have a question.
Bajaj avenger, 2013 model, 23K done.
Engine oil - Motul 7100, fully synthetic. Milage- 33km/l - city
Yesterday, I went to the mechanic to change the spark plugs. Both had turned black. New Amaron battery also installed. I'm 2nd owner.
The mechanic also pulled off the carburettor switch (he said it will clean the water in the tank). When I was about to leave I accelerated heavily and found white smoke from the exhaust. I asked him about this, he said the pistons need replacement. I'm not sure if the white smoke came out before of it was only after he pulled off carburettor.
I told him I will be back soon. I went home and researched more on this. I read an article which said I need to check the carbon in the exhaust. I put my finger in the exhaust and found the carbon in powder form. What does it mean?
Can anyone please help?

i own an avenger 220 and i even sometime face hard gear shift(sometimes its smooth) .it was butter smooth till first service , then they did some settings which from then never came back to original smoothness. i facing problem ,kept bike in mainstand ,i put the bike in gear and did not release clutch still back wheel rotating is it a issue ? does this cause hard shift ?

I got the pillion seat modified too, one inch from both sides and a layer more for comfort. No issues so far, so yes its a good idea to add foam on top. They key is to get a good quality leather on top.Originally posted by marcusbrutus View Post

Finding neutral is very easy. Try 2-N-1 or 1-N-2 sequence back to back. Remember dont push hard for neutral but just tap the lever lightly. And try neutral when bike is stopped.
Regarding seat,1 to 2 inch thick foam on top is ok. Pillion seat need widening by by atleast 2-2 inches from both sides (total 4 inches wide).

About 5 weeks in with my new Avenger Street 220. Still got issues with finding neutral while parking, but it's otherwise running great so far. A quick question to those with modified seats: by how many inches did you widen the pillion for it to be comfortable? Is adding foam on top a good idea? (I've hears that on overly soft seats long drives start to hurt faster)Leave a comment:
