We are all proud of you Sarath, hope the situation changes and we get to see you back on the big stage soon
Watching Sarath's eyes well up while speaking about his passion was touching.

Mahindra Racing is sponsoring his Italian racing series.. wish they (or anyone else) took care of his finances as well. Is it too much to ask?

TVS, Hero, Bajaj, Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki... anyone..?? Please..

Be it a Joel Joseph who left his handsome paying job, or a racer like Sarath!

Me and Sarath have travelled the journey together for 3 years. I know what it was and how its even going to be for him. This country really needs to wake up and do something for motorsports. Its not like we are living in a poor country, we have surplus money here, but it goes for all the wrong stuffs. I dont know how and when this will change, but my prayers are on. I ve really got tired talking about this and doing all that it takes for this sport. In the end, we have to just leave it to destiny and let it do the talk. Walk along and see where it takes!
I have had my own emotional path with motorsports over the last 4 years. I m now a lot more involved in the sport than what I used to be. I will still keep my momentum going strong and I will give it my best shot. The rest lies with the beholder!

I am both proud and ashamed. Proud that an Indian had a Podium finish in MotoGp and ashamed because I didn't know this till I read it here.

Was this covered in media? I don't remember seeing anything to this effect in the news. If cricketers sneeze it becomes a headline

All the best Sarath. It was absolutely touching when he said "I want to become world champion and be in a good position with my family".

EDIT: Here atleast can we have a separate thread please? Podium finish and it is merged into a thread created in 2010?
EDIT2: Reported post#6 to split into a separate thread from #6 onwards. Hopefully mods will grant this one.

I had tears in my eyes when I saw him speak.

I might sound stupid, lets not wait till companies come forward to help Sarath, but I want to help Sarath.

@Sunny :- Since you run XBHP, can xbhp help in any way? we are all xbhp, can we all contribute some money and give it to Sarath as a token of appreciation from xbhp, I believe sunny can try and get him some sponsorship. At least you can have an article on him in your magazine.

Sunny :- I am ready to contribute, I am not sure about the rest, but I do feel we can help him in some way, the amount need not be big, even small contributions are welcome, after all every drop of water makes an ocean.

              Guys, plz plz ...

                Hi Bprags,

We are equally moved and stunned when we saw this video of him. We definitely want to help him.

When and how it will be done, this is something that only time will tell.

Till then, have faith and keep up the spirits up!

To add to it, Rohit Giri, Rajni, Deepak Ravikumar have been riding the 600ccs at the national level!! Infact Rajni has won international events too. Does he have a big brand sponsor? No!
                  Classic ignorant example?

160 to 600 was "just an example" to explain the differences in the machinery, and the impact they have on any racer... not just Sarath, anyone. I mentioned it in my original post, didn't I?
You think I don't know Moto3 was 125cc 2 stroke and now going to be 250 4 stroke? You think I don't know how he moved from 150cc 4 stroke to 125cc 2 Stroke of the Moto3?

As far as sponsorships are concerned, if a person is not so financially strong, it doesn't take a wiseman to understand that he could use sponsorships.

I've been following Sarath closely on FB and the news and I know him better than that... See my post below and think over what you said:

"You" (not Sarath) can't just beat opponents the first time you ride a 600, after riding 160's all your life (just an example).
When you edit your post and remove reference to my post, I will delete mine. And please, live and let live...!

Hey Joel, I can understand the emotions which you would have after working closely with him for the past few years. Even you have done a great deal of work as far as making India feel proud in the world stage, Kudos to you ! I'm not sure what you are up to now but continue to do the good work and rest assured that you will continue to have fans like us. All the very best !

This was announced today at the glitzy launch of sports management firm SK-Sarath69, which is promoted by renowned South Indian actor and politician, R. Sarath Kumar. SK-Sarath69 Sports Pvt. Ltd has been launched with the aim of helping and promoting young sportspersons in India.

The 21-year old rider Sarath Kumar was confident of making an impact in the Spanish Moto 3 Championship. He commented, "First of all I would like to thank Mr. R Sarath Kumar for making all this possible. He is committed to helping youngsters and is playing an active role in helping me succeed. It is a dream come true to race in the Spanish Moto 3 championship, considering the great riders who have participated in the same. Monlau Competicion is a winning team and I hope I can help them continue their winning ways. The more experience I get the more confident I feel and the faster I go. This is a huge opportunity for me so I hope I can make my country proud."

Mr. Jaime Serrano, Executive Director, Monlau Competicion, commented, "India is definitely becoming a hot destination for motorsports and we are pleased to announce our partnership with SK-Sarath69 and their young rider Sarath Kumar. From what we have seen of him we are highly impressed and believe he has what it takes to go all the way. We will work closely in all areas to ensure he improves as a rider and is in a position to fight for victories."
SK-Sarath69 was founded with the intention of promoting and nurturing promising talent from India to prepare them for the rigors of international competition. The company will focus on talent from all sporting disciplines with the first project focusing on motorsports.
Mr. R. Sarath Kumar, Chairman, SK-Sarath69, is a strong believer in promoting the youth of the country and is thrilled to be a part of this initiative. He commented, "India, as a sporting nation is at a very nascent stage, and the youth will play an integral role in taking it to the next level. While there is no dearth of talent in India, it is important that these young sportsmen are developed and groomed the right way. Our goal is to prepare young sportspersons to compete on an international scale, with the right training, financial backing and guidance.
We are proud to announce young rider S. Sarath Kumar as our first signing and even more excited to confirm his participation in the Spanish Moto 3 Championship with Monlau Competicion. Sarath is supremely talented and we need to give him the best possible opportunity to win races. We are also happy to work with Rajini Krishnan, who recently made history by becoming the first Indian rider to win an international motorcycle event. With Sarath and Rajini we have the two best Indian riders and we intend to help them get to the top step of the podium."
Ramji Govindarajan, Executive Director, SK-Sarath69, commented, "Most Indian sportsmen have one thing in common - lack of funds and guidance. We want to ensure that these youngsters are given their chance to present themselves at the highest level. While our first project is motorcycle racing, our long-term goal is to help as many sportsmen as possible, be it in athletics, badminton, tennis etc. We are really happy that Monlau Competicion has signed on Sarath and placed their faith in his abilities. We will confirm Rajini's plans shortly as well which looks set to kick off with Asia's premier Superbike racing category, the Asia Road Racing Championship for 2013."
