There is something called as final gearing and wheel size math that gives u the top-speed. A comet does this with a 17" rear wheel. You are running a rear wheel which is around 8 inches. No wonder you have such terrific acceleration. I'd be surprised if teh kart does 120 tops with this gearing and the bike almost hitting rev limiter in 5th. But trust me the acceleration will be terrific.Originally posted by m1g View PostThe stock comet manages 140 kmph, and with such a light frame, we hope for something better! ..
All your top-speed will depend on the final wheel size gearing.
Anyways for being a kart, u dont need any top-speed. 120kmph is more than enough.sigpic

ooo..forgot about the rim size! And yeah, I know, top speed won't be required too much..Originally posted by Joel View PostThere is something called as final gearing and wheel size math that gives u the top-speed. Karts will never be able to attain crazy top-speeds. They can spin out of control. They are not aerodynamics, wheelbase is too less, small wheels which lack grip, braking insufficient to handle high speeds, frame flex, steering issues etc etc..Originally posted by m1g View Postooo..forgot about the rim size! 120 and the kart staying on tarmac, itself will be a task. U only need blistering acceleration, not top-speed. Not even drags man. That comet engine is not a great engine. 2-strokes can still smoke the day lights of it.
Also a suggestion, the fuel tank will need to be shifted to a better place. Its heavily prone to cracking in case of a mishap or a slight bump.sigpic

Yup..
But this will have an advantage on a tight track..loads of low down grunt..
And who said everyone should built sensible stuff! Look at what the crazies have come up with!

the theoretically calculated top speed considering rpm, gear ratio, front to rear sprocket(both changed) ratio and final wheel dia is 122 km/hrOriginally posted by m1g View Postooo..forgot about the rim size! And yeah, I know, top speed won't be required too much..

Didnt I already say this in the previous page. Getting to 120 itself will be a big deal. You can hit a good 115 for sure. 120 if you get a better patch. But it will get there in no time. However the state of tune of the engine also matters.Originally posted by hemank View Postthe theoretically calculated top speed considering rpm, gear ratio, front to rear sprocket(both changed) ratio and final wheel dia is 122 km/hrsigpic

I have a 50 cc motor wasting at home .. was thinking of doing something similar with a top whack of 30Kmph.
