  • Re: MotoGP 2016 Season - Updates!

If you are in the middle of a race weekend and you have bodyguards around you all the time, wouldn't it affect you mentally. At least in your subconscious!

A mere mortal like me would be greatly disturbed with the 'need' of bodyguards. I wonder how much would it effect racers who are as focussed as Marquez and Lorenzo??
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

the whole bodyguard thing seems to be more of a big deal in the media. Both Lorenzo and Marquez have said that they've been interacting with fans since yesterday, and they haven't had any issues.

Marquez in the press conference said he walked out his motorhome and was kinda surprised that there was a bodyguard assigned to him... because he had already mention to Dorna that he didn't need/want a bodyguard.

Dorna has a responsibility to keep it's riders safe. It's more of a watching their own back thing (legally speaking), than an actual need.

What a lap from Iannone at the end of FP2. He has a point to prove. But Lorenzo is not worried at all. He is still running the fastest pace.

What a lap from Maverick, guys we have a new super start in the making.

Cheeky one from Vale. Guess Ianone is the most disappointed.

I thought Q2 is all that matters to set track records.

            • Booing will be there!

As cheering is part of game, booing will also be there. As all know, die hard fans are crazy and if there is something big like someone's fan club is present in the stadium of any sport, every reaction goes loud from followers. Followers don't want their idol to be shown below anyone(be it rivals or anyone else) or if anything done wrong to their idol(in followers view), boos will be there. Indeed riders play with their life, but die hard fans won't take anything wrong doing.

Many great players have been booed, for example Cristiano Ronaldo booed for tackling Wayne Rooney from goaling position(that was Portugal vs England, at that time both played with Manchester United), our own MSD's decision to run out Ian Bell(to bring Ian Bell back by MSD was cheered by the same audience), even VR46 at Jerez with Sete Gibernau for last corner move(read it here: recently posted by aditya_YZF-R15), so boos will be there no matter what.

I think riders try to get positive from everything even from the most negative, that's what keeping their focus super rock solid. Like Marco Simoncelli took Dani Pedrosa at Le Mans, he was provided bodyguards in the next race at Catalunya Race in 2011. He got his first premier class pole there.

Back to yesterday, MV25 was tailing VR46 for long time, VR46 returned the favour and got pole! Looks like he is getting the confidence back. Hope AD04 chooses right tyre and gets podium finish, too much bad luck for him.

Don't get carried away by the new found VR-MV on track-friendship. As Marco Melandri once said, "Rossi is your friend until you beat him.", it will hold true for MV also unless VR slides down due to aging when both share the space at Yamaha.

Every time JLo loses the pole on Sat, he behaves like a kid who hasn't been given a cookie.

True, no one is friend on the track. Everyone is there for winning the race.

It was interesting to see what looked like Rossi and Vinales working in tandem in quali.

Whether or not they decided to help each other out beforehand...
their proximity to each other during qualifying most certainly helped each rider get a better laptime.

There's no way Rossi would have got that pole without that tow from Vinales.

When asked if he thought VR and MV had planned ahead, or if it was a coincidence,
Lorenzo said: "Well it's a coincidence, a coincidence repeated five or six times.

Pole(front line for that matter) from Qualifier only gives psychological advantage. A better bike combined with a determined rider will rise to top on race day(today).

Not exactly. As has been the case with Valentino in recent times you get bogged down by the dog fight with "slower" riders in front of you at the start of the race unless you are a certain MM93

not true really. given a choice, every rider would choose a clear track ahead of them.
so a front row start coupled with a good start definitely helps.

Case in point... today's race, Unless he gets an amazing start, I'm pretty sure Lorenzo, starting from 5th, won't win today.

For example... during quali, Lorenzo likes to leave the pit first to get a clear track.
But, riders like Vinales and Rossi leave much later for the exact same reason.

                          a clear track.

A blown engine for Lorenzo and that at the fastest part of the the track was scary. Not looking so good for him at the moment. Vinales showing blazing race pace lap after lap. It surely gonna be an interesting race. Good to see Dovi finally up there.
