this is huge and going to be so interesting - https://motomatters.com/news/2016/09..._worldsbk.html and several other news links on this topic.

finally this is done..the idea of a supersport 250 or 300 in the WSBK series was talked about more than 2 years ago by dorna, FIM etc..at that time they'd speculated it could be a reality from 2015 or 2016 season and then for a long time it seemed no one was talking anything more about such plans, and now kinda all of a sudden it's official.

posting this here because there's no WSBK thread in xbhp.

                  • Marc Marquez bags his fifth World championship title at Motegi

The Japanese Grand Prix at Motegi turned out be the most dramatic race day of the season as Honda rider Marc Marquez sealed the MotoGP title for the third time in four years by finishing in first place when it was least expected to happen.

I would say, Yamaha messed this season right from their satellite team to factory. Except Rossi, others are leaving and last year, bradley was scoring consistently the top 6-8 positions. The last eight race winners were non-yamaha riders. 2014 was the last year, when MM93 phenom was in full swing, apart from that, I would say pre-rossi Yamaha era was when the same thing happened. Marc was simply in the better position to make use of the mess, Yamaha as a team (incl riders).

Rossi and Lorenzo lost because of their own mistakes, and unable to capitalising the opportunities etc, where Marc Marquez raced to heart, using all the opportunities and finally reached the phoenix.. His maturity level was incredible throughout this season. MARC MARQUEZ Rocks

without a doubt a well deserved championship win for MM. at 23 no one can deny he's earned it.

(yesterday, he pressured Rossi into pushing hard to catch up which resulted in VR crashing / don't think it was the same for JL99)

I just made a little comparison between Valentino and Marc and when they won their 5th titles, more or less, their records are close. No one would have thought that after 14 years, Valentino win only 4 championship....
