Re: 2017 WorldSBK Updates and Discussion Thread

Racing was good but not as close as moto 3 i felt .Not knowing any of the riders was hoping for a Yamaha win , being a R3 owner .R3 seems to be the popular entry on the grid. Good entry level for WSBK which could become a popular series in asian markets.
    Yamaha RX 135 5 Speed - 2000 -(current)
    Yamaha R15 v1 - 2009 - 2016 ( Sold )

Moto 3 is a world championship. This isn't.

Scott Deroue, the guy who won this race is an ex-Moto3 rider. There he barely finished in the top ten on a few occasions. Let a few rounds pass, the riders and the teams will get better dialled in for the race

But for 300cc stock bikes it can be considered a world championship .No way was i expecting it to be as good as Moto 3 ,what i actually meant was that the field was more spread out and the racers not so evenly matched ,since it's a new series let's see how it goes .

Can't be considered a World Championship, because it is not held across the globe. Only in the European rounds. In Asia, the Asia Championship races are held alongside WSBK.

I honestly believe the racing will get closer in the subsequent rounds. For a lot of these riders, it was the first time racing on such a big stage. The Finn who crashed out from the lead on his Yamaha is being mentored by Mika Kallio i believe.

Though GPs will probably still get the cream of the talent pool

Carl Fogarty suffers injuries. Thankfully the 46 year old rider didn't suffer too badly and should recover.

Four-time World Superbike champion Carl Fogarty has suffered a broken shoulder blade, punctured lung and broken ribs in a crash at the Dirt Quake motorcycle event.

With Kawasaki and Ducati dominating the races, WSBK has gotten kind of boring. Earlier WSBK had more entertaining racing for the win than MotoGP, now its the other way around.

Plus with more manufacturers coming into MotoGP ,Wsbk is surely getting affected .But most of the circuits have good attendances since a lot of different classes are involved. Wish Kawasaki would come into MotoGP .At one time i thought WSBK would get merged with Moto GP when the 500 2 strokes changed to 4 stroke 1000cc but that did not happen & it is still going strong.

Portimao Race 2 - J.Rea completes a double by winning race 2 .Van Der Mark on the Yamaha finishes second and Melandri finishes third . Chaz Davies had a crash and did not finish the race .By the way Van Der Mark is supposed to ride Rossi's bike in the Aragon Moto GP round on Sept 26.The championship seems to be sealed for Rea.
