Re: 2017 WorldSBK Updates and Discussion Thread
I feel he might be headed the MotoGP way ,given his experience only that could be a step forward if he plans to stay in the racing field and not go the management way .One of the new manufacturer teams could benefit from his experience .Originally posted by The Monk View PostYamaha RX 135 5 Speed - 2000 -(current)

Re: 2017 WorldSBK Updates and Discussion Thread
Rea really steamrolled the competition. Someone shared a stat, Rea from the time he has joined Kawasaki has won 50% of all the races! He is as successful as the rest of the grid put together.
Mind boggling, but makes the racing utterly boring!Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Re: 2017 WorldSBK Updates and Discussion Thread
There was a time when WSBK racing was more exciting with closer racing than Moto GP but it has turned out to be completely opposite now with Moto GP coming up with great races. Anyway none of the WSBK winners succeeding in Moto GP while lot of Moto GP losers succeeding in WSBK makes for a sad story .Now with lot more manufacturers and young talent in Moto GP the good times are set to roll.Originally posted by The Monk View PostRea really steamrolled the competition. True. Hopefully with the new performance restrictive rules, the 'spectacle' will improve.Originally posted by bharatheshk View PostThere was a time when WSBK racing was more exciting with closer racing than Moto GP but it has turned out to be completely opposite now with Moto GP coming up with great races. F1 style pitstop was only for this race since the tyres didn't last in Race 1! And that too the pit stop had a minimum time limit!Originally posted by sciics View PostThat Race 2 in Phillip Island!! great show by the WSBK guys. very excited to see F1 Style Pit Stop.Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Re: 2017 WorldSBK Updates and Discussion Thread
The plan of switching up the grid in the Race 2 hasn't worked. The same guys are still winning. The Ducatis and Kawasakis, with the Yamahas finishing behind them. The Hondas, Aprilias and BMWs stand no chance the way things stand currently.Originally posted by bharatheshk View PostRound 3 - Aragon

Re: 2017 WorldSBK Updates and Discussion Thread
Yeah, for me this is a big reason. Also the WSBK official Youtube channel does not post highlights sort of videos the way MotoGP does and now F1 also does. Its really sad.Originally posted by HyperRetard View PostI wonder if the lack of interest in WSBK is due to there being no telecast on TV.
Its hard to actually watch WSBK content and that is what keeps people away from it maybe.

This is one of the reasons in India.Originally posted by HyperRetard View PostI wonder if the lack of interest in WSBK is due to there being no telecast on TV.
Globally though, WSBK has been on a rather downward trend for a few years now. Lack of 'interesting characters', the same guys winning always and manufacturers lack of interest has fuelled it. Also the top WSBK riders all being from one country reduces interest in the sport.
See how many people are talking about the Marquez-Rossi spat. Almost no one knows there was a Davies-Rea spat (on a much smaller scale) last year!
To add to WSBK's woes, the racing in MotoGP is fantastic currently. Which gives the casual fan little or no reason to shift their attention to WSBK.
From an entertainment point of view (the thing that actually sells), WSBK is not the best spectacle on two wheels currently.Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Re: 2017 WorldSBK Updates and Discussion Thread
But i still think compared to last years domination by Rea and Kawasaki the results indicate others being more competitive ,of course it's only the third race and Rea seems to be coming into form .WSBK has always been for racers not managing the transition to Motogp from other national championships like British SBK and others.Originally posted by The Monk View PostThe plan of switching up the grid in the Race 2 hasn't worked. The Hondas, Aprilias and BMWs stand no chance the way things stand currently.Even when it was being telecast it was always a poor cousin compared to Moto gp but now it does not figure at all in any news whereas Moto gp results have started to come in the corner of the daily newspaper .F1 seems to be getting more detailed coverage nowadays in the newspapers whereas it used to be a corner story previously ,the car manufacturers seem to have a hand in it . Maybe if our 2 wheel manufacturers who advertise in the papers push some buttons we may see more 2 wheel motorsports coverage.Originally posted by HyperRetard View PostI wonder if the lack of interest in WSBK is due to there being no telecast on TV.
