The Deccan Quarter Mile Drag. Here are some details.
Organized by Andhra Pradesh Motor Sports Club Andhra Pradesh Motor Sports Club
Held on 20th and 21st June
For both two wheelers and four wheelers.
Stock, modified and nitrous categories.
Day 1 - June 20
I started from my home and reached the airport at 10am. Bikes and cars for the drag were put up on display. They were being registered and scrutinized for the drag. There was a lot of variety in the cars and bikes. The participants came from Karnataka, Maharashtra, Delhi and the rest were from Hyderabad.
There were modified drag bikes, bullets, yezdi roadking, r15s, rd350s, rd250, yamaha 400, karizma, CBRs, Hayabusa, Aprilia, etc. The cars which turned up were modified esteem, altos, zen(fitted with NOS), swifts, sx4, skodas, mercedes, camry, corolla, accord, Toyota Supra(from Bengaluru), Nissan GTR(from Delhi), Audi TT, etc.
The practice races then took place after the vehicles were scrutinized.
The highlight of the bike drag races was the Hayabusa which raced against Aprilia RSX. One could clearly see the distance between both the bikes from the starting itself which went on increasing till the end. Next, the CBRs took on each another. The bullets and yezdis raced against one another.
In the cars category, it was the supra and GTR which were the show stealer. The GTR was against Merc S350 and it clocked around 240kmph towards the finish line. The Supra raced against the TT. The victory had to be in the name of Supra. In another race an esteem smoked a merc C200. No one thought that the esteem could win.
That was the end of Day 1.
