  • TVS Racing School

Guess what guys ! TVS is back again to give all of us newbie racers a chance to experience road-racing and riding on the track. They are starting with the racing school from this month.

Hosur-based TVS Motor Company has been at the forefront of Indian two-wheeler racing for over a decade now. TVS returns with a Racing School in order to provide a platform for budding talent

TVS products have been sincerely developed and evolved from experience gathered by its motorsport division, TVS Racing. TVS was the first company to bring circuit racing within the reach of larger enthusiasts with its TVS Race-a-Bike scheme and since then the company has been actively involved in giving opportunities to upcoming talent. Staying true to its commitment to two-wheeler motorsport, TVS has joined hands with Madras Motor Sports Club (MMSC) to introduce a new activity for all the budding racers known as the TVS Racing School. The racing school will be a one-day event and it will be held at the Madras Motor Race Track in Sriperumbudur, Chennai.
The school will consist of various activities related to two-wheeler road-racing in India and will provide complete information as well as track experience to the participants. The day will start with a briefing session that will include detailed information on Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), the Road Racing Regulations, the Disciplinary & Arbitration Code, flag signals, technical regulations etc. After the briefing process, the participants will be given TVS motorcycles for practical riding lessons on the track and they will be taught the correct riding postures along with track-riding advise under the guidance of experts like Mr. Subash Chandra Bose.
TVS has also announced that the Racing School event will be a part of the TVS Race-a-Bike Scheme from next year onwards, so the trainees can also get a taste of racing on the track. The participation will have a minimum of ten riders and maximum of fifteen riders on first come first serve basis. The enrollment fee is Rs. 1000/- per rider and MMSC has already begun taking entries for the racing school. The interested riders can contact MMSC officials through the following contact details:

    Madras Motor Sports Club
    Guru Mansion, 123/1 TTK Salai,
    Alwarpet, Chennai - 600018
    Phone (044) 24990998
The TVS Racing School will be held once every month starting from July 31st, 2009. Three dates have been finalized as follows:
    1) Friday, 31st July 2009
    2) Friday, 28th August 2009
    3) Friday, 25th September 2009

All interested riders must have a valid civil riding license for motorcycle with gears, an ISI-certified full faced helmet, full leather riding suit, full hand leather gloves along with boots that completely cover the ankles.

Requirements indicate full leather riding suit and riding boots, can't be so sure that all 15 seats would be taken already, right?

Great to see a another two wheeler manufacturer try to provide the track racing experience to the common biker..

But sadly with only 2 race tracks in India that too in TN (Chennai & Coimbatore), what about interested bikers who live in other parts of India..??

Kudos to TVS but even with their best of intentions.. for a bike enthusiast who lives anywhere in India except South, getting a proper track experience will probably remain one of those 'things to do before I die'.

How about the manufacturers themselves taking the initiative to build race tracks around the country..?? That would be really cool.

                    Great initiative.. but..

Thanks to TVS and Yamaha putting together bikes and selling them as race bred (RTR & R15), bikers might be getting interested in racing..

Company sponsored events like R15 championship and the above mentioned "Racing School" are praiseworthy initiatives.. but for a country of 100 crores.. just 2 race tracks..??

Any body from xbhp registered for this?

I inquired about the full body leather suit at Cramster(Cunningham Road, Bangalore). Costs Rs.21,000/-. Any hopes of me registering for this event, crashed right then.
