That was one of the finest reviews cum test report that I ever read...made me feel as if I was riding the Blade

BTW...tell us more on the slipper clutch...I am sure you must have experienced its effectiveness.

Thanks NV. The slipper clutch took me by surprise the first couple of times. To be honest, I wasn't unaware that the Blade had a slipper clutch (I know my bad!) so when I downshifted at the end of the straight to engine brake into the corner, there were no dramatic rear wheel hops or sudden retardation as I was expecting. The system just smoothly matched the revs. So it took me a lap or two to understand what was going on and then it all became crystal clear In other words, the slipper clutch rocks!

@all- hey guys, I apologize for removing the pictures. I'll have them up as soon as I can. I hope the review can suffice until then.

                  Cheers,

I have a hunch that the Blade will be faster round a track than the R1. Most of the auto journos that have ridden both these beasts swear by the Blade.

You sure dont wanna ride an R1 man, you're lucky to blast around in a CBR1000. The R1 will never turn the way you want. CBRs rule around the corners. I have had my share of blasting the stiff-headed R1 around corners. You need to get used to it really well. But a CBR will make you feel at home instantly.
Joel bro, we arent talkin about the 05 blade vs the 05 R1...

its year 2009... over four years since Rossi joined Yamaha and gave his valuable feedback and insight.

Guys, lets just do the home work well before making half-baked statements...

Here is what the MCN test says about the 2009 Litre class bikes:

If you consider the outright performance on-paper, the 09 Blade still is on the top, but now finally after a decade of running behind crazy horsepower figures, the riders as well as the companies have woken up to making the power more accessible than scary. Hence, though the R1 does not shine through in performance figures on paper, the bing-bang firing order and its more controlled power delivery shows around the track and the twisty roads allowing the rider to put down more power on the tarmac and ride more confidently, making it a more better package out of the two...

P.S.: I am NOT a Yamaha fanboy. I only encourage the spread of correct knowledge and right information.

That is a very finely written article! Thank you for gracing us with it!

And as always, the Blade will always be special to me. Was the first SBK I've ever ridden and definitely the SBK I will soon buy...! (But the CB1000R Naked has stolen my heart....)

We are talking about the 08 R1 and the CBR1000RR. Sure the 09 R1 is better around the track and I have seen them move personally at Sepang.

09 R1 having better drive out of corners due to it's low rpm power advantage, but this is of minimal significance on a racetrack.

09 CBR is compact has got weight reduction and performs better in corners and cuts the corners like a cake.
