In that interview amidst "No comments" and "Press release", thats giving me a slight hint of a bigger bike...
      e.g.
      (1) "No comments" on the code name of RTR 160 Hyper edge...(it might just be RTR HYPER EDGE)
(2)No phasing out of RTR 160...(That means 160 and 160Fi will stay, and if they really care for "Performance Enthusiasts", they wont introduce another 160cc bike)
(3)Not a "single" hint on price, specs etc...(well if they did that, than our "most frequent upgrader" BAJAJ might introduce its Pulsar220-H, (Hyper Edge) next week)
The original news was given by manan, who said it would be a 160.

I think it would be a RTR 160 with extra technology - maybe 3/4 valve head or ABS?

Earlier, there was some genuine news about a company (don't remember the name) which made a prototype ABS setup, specially for future TVS Street bikes.

Also, RTR Fi sold lesser, mostly due to higher cost. Maybe a 4 valve head can increase both performance & mileage of their RTR just like Fi, with much lesser cost?
We all know what Bajaj did to P135. Makes sense to me.

But even a plastic fairing, FAT tyres, does the trick for many.
Like i said elsewhere, they dont want to dilute the brand running after the sales figures of Pulsars. They simply dont care. They do keep a modest target and they achieve it quite easily.Post RTR-180 launch the figures have climbed upwards of 15k per month. In the month of June, they sold 18k. Now that's Yamaha's total bike sales per month in India.

            My guess,

Power :- 16 BHP, 3 valve head and hopefully some refinement and a few cosmetic changes. I hope they provide DC lighting this time.

I dont expect any major change in the looks from them, but the RTR badly needs a facelift for sure.

They have never claimed to beat the Pulsars in sales numbers. Or else we could have seen dozen of upgrades of the RTR series every 6 months. So far only RTR-Refresh was launched after the RTR-160 launch way back in May'07. Only 1 (cosmetic) upgrade in the whole 3 years.

So the Hyper-Edge will most probably be the answer to fill in that void as competition has inched closer to the RTR 160 in terms of performance.

Why the Buzz about the RTR "Hyper Edge" so low??

                            >> I mean, even after the sort of confirmation about the new RTR, the discussion about it is still comparitively low in xBhp.

                            >> Also none of the usual copy+paste blogs/sites have lifted the info about the RTR "Hyper Edge" from xBhp and posted it on their blogs/sites.
Is it because they hate to provide the credits/links to xBhp?

IMO, the news source is not "strong" enough to start a speculation or discussion... No Offence to anyone at all but in the given interview i didn't find anything(how dumb I am) except "No comments" and "wait for the press release"... but thats just me...
