  • RUMOUR (Now Closed) The VFR1200F Comes..2nd of August..at 25 lakhs

Come the 2nd of August, 2010, Honda will launch the 1237cc V4-engined VFR1200F in India. Now this isn't just any other fairing clad motorcycle, no siree. It's the same sports tourer that was unleashed onto the rest of the world just a year ago. Yes, and we're getting it in here this soon! That just goes to show that India isn't a dumping ground anymore. We're a market that knows what we want, and have the means, albeit in small numbers, to get it. Sure, we might pay through our ears for something that lucky blokes abroad can afford in their garages at half the price, but the bikes are here. In showrooms. In larger numbers and variety than ever before.

We had ridden the VFR in Japan last year, and unfortunately, we don't have the dope on which of the two, the dual clutch or the more conventional one, is going to make it to India. But rest assured, you're going to hear about first right here. So stay glued! Oh, and the buzz is that the VFR will set you back by about 25 lakhs.

      Superb.. Good going Honda..

But i hope the same discrepancy that was there in it , doesnt happen in INDIA also...
Actually many VFR1200 was recalled because of some Chip problem (babelfish i guess )..

          25lakh

I don't expect it to cost more than 18lakh. Any tag higher than that is exorbitant.

Definitely nice to see the market opening up, no doubt about that. But any idea if Honda has any sales target at all for this monster?

Apologies for the OT, but couldn't resist. I've been sitting on a decision whether to buy the baby Ninja or not, and the reason for about 5-6 months of "thinking" is purely financial. So on behalf of blokes like me looking for a sub 2 lac offering, Boo!

Oh, you mean 18L is not exorbitant?

                    For me it is.
But I said that by trying to put myself in the customers shoes which Honda is eyeing with this product.

But frankly speaking I can't think of a single Indian buyer who will buy a VFR leaving all the other options at hand. Would be interesting to know the reason for one going for this bike.

I disagree... I do see buyers... what I dont see is a buyer who knows what he is riding and will ride it to do justice to the machine.

Almost anything can be sold in India...

I wonder which or what "kind" of customers is Honda "eyeing" with this product! I doubt if there would be too many.

True, but not this at 25L. A motorcycle at 25L has to be a lifestyle product. Do you see this one as a lifestyle product?

Small example: If I were to buy a 25L lifestyle motorcycle, I would go for a Ducati and not a Honda or a Yamaha!

Yeah I do... you are still assuming that the rich bloke who buys it knows jack shit from honda or ducati... all they care is a neat huge fanboyist honda in the parking lot! - Did Yamaha sell any vMax in India?

I would not be surprised if Honda promotes it as THE dream HUGE Mother of all bikes through PR.

No they did not! Precisely my point. Whereas they sell 2 Ducatis a month.

LOL... a price tag of 25Lakhs... I think Honda guys will be more than happy if this bike sells a couple in a year...
25 Lakhs, i am in a hang over
Is our country rich enough for this deal and also is this a VFM? I think a BUSA can satisfy the sports tourers with out making a BIG hole in the pocket... the pricing is ridiculous...
Also what's the sales nof Yamaha VMax in India?
