I think resources will be air-dropped.

This is really sad. Let's pray for every soul lost and in need for help. I am sure the Army rescue teams are doing whatever they can and more.

Our paradise is endanagered now !!

So much has been talked and discussed about GLOBAL WARMING in the media and public that it has reduced to a mere joke !! ... But when it strikes hard we realise the importance of it ..... One of the senior government official in Leh was seen on TV describing this event as unprecedented in entire living history of ladakh !! ..... Its a rainshadow area hence a cold desert ... rains are scanty and even snow is dry ...... but the news of cloudburst, heavy rains and flash floods has really jolted me out of my seat ... I was disheartened to see the mud houses and buildings even the roads on which I was driving my bike just a week ago all submerged in mud and water .... The village of Nimu and Choglumsar are worst affected and when riding through them I remember saying my friend that these are the best places to live ... but now everything we saw and cherished about is damned .... All because of our mindless use of fossil fuels and deforestation for agriculture and SEZs ..... This is just the beginning of our end ..... More such freak calamities are on calender for coming years ...... We have already lost the chance to arrest global warming ..... Now we just need to wait and watch the disaster in action !!

I understand the feeling of hurt in your heart and i also realize that we as a bikers are also contributing in Global warming, but you have to keep faith my friend.
So many innocent soles lost during the mishap is just a warning for us. We need to get smart.
Example: I use to use R15 for daily commute, but now for office traveling, i use electric scooter. It's cheap and environment friendly. After buying the electric scooter most of my friends realized the advantages of it and now more than 5 guys have stopped using their petrol vehicles for office traveling.
I know this numbers are nothing, but i am also sure, that if i was able to influence 5 people to purchase environmental friendly vehicle, those people will again be a good example for more and the number should increase.
So rather than being disheartened, we have to find a way to clean the mess.
My R15 is a weekender vehicle now, i hardly use it for 40 kms in a week (Previously this usage was 250kms plus).
Funny thing is i was thinking of buying a Honda City next year, but now i am waiting for the Reva's NXG

EDIT: BTW, mother earth is just like our mother, if we pollute the atmosphere in limit, she won't mind cleaning it for us, but if we get out of control, get ready to take the punishment.

                        This is terrible indeed.

Humans do not listen and do not care. We have monopolized the planet for ourselves and are too selfish to stop ... Seems we're on a one way street to annihilation.

                        What can be done?
Life is like riding a bike. It is impossible to maintain your balance while standing still.

Both the routes are closed. Choglamsar and Nimmu were the worst affected. 14 bodies have been excavated from Choglamsar itself. BSNL lines and all other networks were cut off, but have been restored to some extent.
