Help needed at the Heaven of Bikers: Suggestions Please

Leh flash floods: Death toll reaches 130

yes I saw this headline and I start feeling uneasy from the time this news Flashed on the News Channel.

Why do i feel like this? Leh - is a mecca of bikers. Its a dream of bikers to ride to this heaven. Whenever any of us biker has to ride there, we all know we start preparing from a year ahead.... so we all understand how much this place means to us.

Riders who have been there know that the beauty of this place attracts like a magnet.... inspite of torturous roads and extreme weathers, we all want to go there some day... going to Leh once in a lifetime is something like going for the Holy Shrine's in ones life. And we know through numerous experience of the riders, who had been to Leh, that how beautiful the people are out there.

Then in news paper I read something like this:

"With the recovery of more bodies, the toll in the cloudburts here today climbed to 130 even as 600 more are feared washed away in the calamity that was followed by torrential rains and flash floods devastating this Himalayan town in Ladakh region.

Sources fear that the death toll could cross over 500 as several far flung villages were yet to be accessed by rescue teams in this high-altitude terrain."

hence, I request all the bikers to unite and think and suggest for any kind of help, which we all can provide to make them come back to there normal life once again. I need suggestions of what can be done to help them in any way. We all bikers have a respect and determination to get Leh'ed in our lifetime. Now its our chance to show, the respect and love we have for this place and for these people.

So friends please lets act fast and lets do something.

My Suggestion: even if all xBhpians contribute some amount of say Rs100/- we can issue a cheque, for the total amount collected to the authorities in Leh Development Authority. I am sure some seniors and experienced people have contacts in Leh region. So something can be sorted out.

Lets help them friends, kindly drop in your suggestions, in whatever way we can help them

Save the Earth - We are the one who are running out of time, as Earth will take it own time to heal but that time may not be enough for us.

the saddest news after the tsunami 2004...

The road of life twists and turns and no two directions are ever the same. Yet our lessons come from the journey, not the destination.

heart goes out for the lost souls in this gruesome calamity. The shocking coverage in today's paper really shows the brutality of this wrath of nature to this beautiful place

It is disheartening to see what happened to such a beautiful place. And even more disheartening and sad to know that 100s of lives lost. May the souls rest in peace!
