IMO, this is the right Indian way to go about it. Only then by next year they can launch a new model with improved graphics & rear disc brakes . No wonder HH is the industry leader

Yes! A fellow member of our forum is one among the 20.
I'm not supposed to give out the details until Yamaha make it public.

Guys, its like a paid holiday.
btw, Mahindra is also coming up with something similar. The search for bikers has kicked off, with the entries now open.

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

Its OK, I can understand the part on public; but my question remains, is it worth attending this program other than safety aspects? Is there something really "science" in attending?

Apparently, even the 20 riders weren't told what bike they would be riding around on!
They would get to know the same only once they arrived at the base camp. I got to know they're riding SZs, only from this thread.
What do you mean by "science in attending"?

What a crap site? It doesn't even have Chennai/Madras in the city for TN. May be they knew no one from Chennai would buy or may be they're over confident that ppl in Chennai would buy for sure!!!

I doubt if the ride is above 12000 kms. AFAIK, The Rally will be flagged off from Delhi on the 15th September 2010 and shall finish at Cochin on the 20th October 2010.
The distance is no-where near to 12000kms.

I know couple of guys who are participating. They flew to Delhi from Bengaluru for this event. Its going to be an all expense paid trip. One of the teams will ride down from the eastern part, the other from the western part of the sub-continent to Cochin, where the bike would be officially launched, is what I know.
The speculation was that it would be a 250cc Fazer. This guy wasn't very sure.
Madhav's piece of information seems to be true.
                      Thanks for sharing Madhav.
