I hope the games are a disaster, on such a large scale that nobody even thinks about hosting another event for a very long time...

They are doing this, cuz yesterday a group of taiwanese media ppl were attacked and 2 people were badly injured... the attackers used a "BIKE" ... but, that doesn't mean all bikers are TERRORISTS.. this is pure stupidity Good thing it was the media ppl they attacked, if by chance the one who got shot was an athlete... " BYE, BYE CWG " All the money that was spent would have gone down the drain...
Every BIKE has a lot of speed in it. The trick is getting the speed out of it.

The main problem is the laid back attitude of the law forcing agencies and the government.

The CWG are few days away and the construction work is still on. the complete city is in mess and now such rule.
This only shows one thing. the unpreparedness of the people involved in this chaos.
Why come up with security measures now? why there was no arrangement in the first place?
WHy do these so called law enforcing agencies and govt comes up with a hasty decision at last moment.
Security should have been beefed up atleast a month in advance.

            A complete failure.

Well, yes they are help less and dont know what else to do.. and so, in order to show that they are doing something, they are doing this....

              But then, think about it..
With games not happening in DELHI, it will be a major blow for the INDIA..

so lets just pray, that we have atleast a few wise cops who are smart enough to think of some thing wise and put it into picture so that these games become a success...

Being a delhi-ite, i personally feel that these games are a big sham.. but then, why should the whole country suffer coz of mis-administration of Delhi Government?

What I understand of the situation is :
Bikes with a pillion are more of a security risk than cars as its much more easier to get away on a two-wheeler in delhi's traffic.
A lone rider would not be able to shoot while riding a bike, the back force is too much to shoot while riding without holding the handle bars (except for the hindi movies, which I am not addressing right now).
I know its not the best solution, but it will have to make do for the time being, as there is not enough time for detailed actions.

P.S. I dont appreciate the sentiment of those who are wishing that the games flop. Please understand, this is not just about the Games, but the whole image of the country. A number of factors are related to the success of it going smoothly. The preparation has not been up to the mark, but still as an Indian, I hope at least they go through decently well, and the powers-that-be, take a learning from these setbacks for the next time.

No pillion? Crazy! I say! Crazy! The police should have identified the bike and restrict all bikes of same model from entering those restricted areas. Period .

What a lame step! "No pillion?" i mean are these rule-makers imbeciles?. A more feasible solution is that they can start checking bikes around those areas, which is incidentally much easier than checking cars

That means you can't even have your wife or girlfriend with you, since pillions include all. Ladies can be a threat too is it?

Please wish the CWG to be a so-so event if not an outright success.
Like fasterthanthefastest said, the image of the country is at stake.

Yes, of course ladies can also be considered as a threat cuz, now a days terrorists have resorted to training ladies and deploying them to carry out their plans... the delhi police just don't want to take any chances.. (atleast that's what i infer from it, dunno what's their real intention)

Comeon guys, rather than cursing delhi police we should support them. They are just doing what they can to reduce threat as much as possible.

Just think about those people who are affected because of Banning of cabs and other transport services during games. Its just a matter of few days, after that all will be fine again .
Street racing is for Squids trying to make up for their small equipment

instead of taking so irresponsible and senseless decision the security point should have been the most utmost aspect. i mean after 26/11 you still are learning???. the so called common man is the one who faces all the consequences. the security factor should have been of utmost importance even before of planning the cwg.

I think instead of just putting a ban on pillion riding near these places, the police can do it even in a better way by putting check points at these intervals. I think this can be the most safest effective and secure way to protect these places.
But as its there natural quality of avoiding work, they have found a way to just put a ban on pillion riding. I hope they understand this common sense some day...

This is precisely the point. Terrorists can disguise themselves as anybody. A policeman, a beggar, a VIP etc. Or they can make use of innocent people like asking a kid to deliver a package etc. If, as you say that "delhi police don't want to take any chances". then two wheelers with pillion should not be singled out. The problem is, they need to show the public that they are doing something...at least that is visible. Yeah, sort of covering their ass. And the victim here are two wheelers with pillion.
