Roads between potholes being quite a common sight in most cities (Bangalore for sure), isn't this a route we can adopt as well?

I think the reason why we have so many bad roads is simply because no one raises a collective voice in this regard. As citizens, we only crib about it in casual discussions with friends & folks. Most of the time, bad roads are repaired only because some newspaper/ TV channel brings out the deplorable state of the stretch.

Isn't there something we as citizens can do (with the help of the relevant laws I mean), before an unfortunate incident like this actually occurs?

Every automobile owner, including bikers, should file cases against government en-mass regarding the potholes and road conditions. It may work.

There is lot of roadtax being collected everywhere and I see all the road projects are being constructed on BTO method. What is government doing with all the tax?? Where is it getting channelized? Why should we pay toll taxes as well as road taxes?

I wanted to become an IPS officer and join the Traffic department to do SOMETHING for better safety and rules and regulations.

We break so many rules and create so many offences everyday. Then how can we make claims?
whereas, in countries abroad, people follow traffic reguilations even at 3:00AM and even if there is not even a single automobile on the road.

          see the difference??

(then I realised that I'm too fat & unfit to become an IPS officer . I wish I could work as an undercover agent. Seriously)

I see the problem in India in India to be two-fold:
            1. The public doesn't care for the rules (partly because the law makers are law breakers most of the times). The 'chalta hai' attitude is only going to hurt in the long run.
            2. The measures to regulate road sense by the government are far & few in between. Stricter measures need to eb adopted, & at the same time, the law makers & law enforcers need to themselves abide by the rules.

To give you guys an example of strict measures, about 10 years ago, jaywalking on Brigade Road in Bangalore was a punishable offence. Pedestrains crossing the road at places other than the zebra crossing we fined, & so were pedestrians found walking on the road, instead of the footpath. People creating nuisance such as spitting, were also fined. This jaywalking & fining business went on for some time, but now, we are back to pedestrians walking all over Brigade Road in Bangalore.

PS: talking of breaking traffic rules, the only one I flout is that of speed limits. Trust me I never break any other rule. I have infact been caught for jumping a red light on 2 ocassions, when on both ocassions, the lights turned amber metres after I had crossed the stop line. But the cops wouldn't listen.

Imagine trying to claim compensation in Thane for pothole accident. There are few patches of paved roads here and there. The rest are potholes .

A pothole on the Pune - Bangalore highway resulted in a burst tyre in my 530D.. Since it had runflats, was able to cover the remaining distance.. I do not understand how can they ask for money if they cannot even repair it? something really need to be done..
