  • Yamaha FZ1 bookings open, 8.7 Lacs ex-showroom in Delhi

Yamaha India is most probably launching the FZ1 (note that we don't specifically know if its the FZ1n - the naked one) within the next two months in India. The cost will be most probably 8.6 lacs ex-showroom.

The FZ1 is shown below (pitted against its nearest rival in India - the Suzuki Bandit 1250S)

And the FZ1n: (pitted against its nearest rival in India - the CB1000R).

No doubt both of these bikes will be practical on the Indian roads!

The news is from a reliable 'anonymous' source, but we take no responsibility!

Sweet deal! Not bad at all!

Hope the 'reliable anonymous source' is correct

Must start saving dough for it.. But will take atleast 5 to 6 years to buy one.. If given a choice between FZ1 and FZ1N.. I would close my eyes and go for FZ1N..

Oh, why not the FZ8? It would have come a bit cheaper.

Love the FZ1 and the Fazer both

Well, its nice to know that Yamaha is bringing down these bikes soon. Whats nicer is that they are coming in via the CKD route which would make them cheaper. I guess 8.6 lakhs ex showroom is an awesome price.

What will be totally awesome is if Yamaha can help us bikers get easy loan facilities when we purchase the bike. Coughing up a down payment of 5 lakhs in quite insane for a regular guy. But with a down payment of 1-2 lakhs and the rest as a loan will allow many more to be able to purchase their dreams off the shelf.

Probably they might need to undergo homologation but for FZ1 or above, nothing needed.

But the price of FZ1 is around $15K that converts to about 7L here & with all import duties, wouldn't it be priced around 14L in India? How's it possible to price it around 9L? If Yamaha is planning for a CKD route & get it assembled at YMIS, then why aren't they doing a justification with MT01, R1 or VMax?

Yes you're right @Puneet; also I see that its coming down as SKD (Semi Knock Down) instead of CKD & there're also rumors through the web that Yamaha has already submitted the motorcycle for homologation.

Come Dec & only then we'll know the reality.

they will have to undergo homologation as fz8 is less than 800 c.c.
the same reason why they are not launching any 600 c.c. supersports...

This news was put up on the Yamaha Bangalore site quite some time back.
                      Bangalore Wheels

It was also put up in the speculation thread.

All the same, good to know from the mods that it is coming.

I think the FZ1 looks better that the Bandit, If given a choice between the two I'd say Yamaha.

Good to see that superbiking in India is picking up pace

Would love to have the FZ1n in my garage.

I hope it comes with good financing options as having so much cash would be difficult for me atleast.
