Bangalore based team "Ten10" to race in Moto GP
Bangalore based motorsports team - TEN10 Racing, has officially announced that it will participate in the 125cc two-stroke class of MotoGP. For this TEN10 has teamed up with WTR (a San Marino based team) who already are running bikes in the 125cc class and Moto2. It was a twin surprise for Motorcycle racing fans in India as TEN10 and WTR have signed Sarath Kumar, a young 18year old rider from Chennai, who has become the first Indian to take part in MotoGP.

The official name of the Team is WTR TEN10 Racing. Under the collaboration TEN10 will be working with WTR for the next three years. In 2011 WTR-TEN10 racing team will be racing in the 125cc class with Sarath and an Italian Rider on a two-stroke 125cc bike. After which in 2012 the 125cc class will be replaced by the 4-stroke 250cc class called Moto3. The team will also be participating in Moto3. Sarath will soon be on his way to Imola for training and he will also participate in the winter testing in Valencia.

its a good opportunity to showcase the hidden talent in our country to the world...I hope the government gives more recognition and support to develop motorsport...with proper backing, it can mature to the level we see in other countries...we have no dearth of wouldbe Rossis and Doohans in India...its just the opportunity which is lacking...Ten10 racing have made the first step..Congrats to them...

The lack of interest in motorsports among Indians is pretty evident here.. after the intitial euphoria, nobody has posted anything about WTR10Ten or Sharath's 125 cc moto GP experience.Originally posted by aargee View PostWould like to know what happened to this
During the 2011 season of the 125 cc MotoGP race, Sharath's lack of experience at the highest level of world racing was visible.. he failed to qualify in the initial races. He did qualify in one race and was the last to complete it.
Post that he pulled out of the 2011 season due to an injury.. he did not feature for the rest of 2011 season. 10Ten did not compete in the 2011 Indian National Road Racing Championship.
By the way Mahindra Racing has taken Sharath under their wings and he is racing for them in an Italian 125 cc championship which should give him the much needed exposure to race with the best in the world.

Hey Payeng; Tks a lot for the updates; appreciate it
Two things that concerns me are...
Why to pull out? Could've found another rider to compete isn't it? Atleast, we could have a proud Indian team in the participation; isn't it?10Ten did not compete in the 2011 Indian National Road Racing Championship
andSharath's lack of experience at the highest level of world racing was visible
Mahindra could've hired someone with good experience from the planet, but, they still believe in Sharath; isn't it?By the way Mahindra Racing has taken Sharath under their wings and he is racing for them in an Italian 125 cc championshipSkill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

Probably due to lack of sponsorships they couldn't participate.. don't know the exact details.Originally posted by aargee View PostHey Payeng; Tks a lot for the updates; appreciate it

Yes, Mahindra needs to be applauded for trying to groom some "desi" talent.. but at the end of the day even for Mahindra they see it as a Business opportunity to make its presence felt among us..Originally posted by aargee View Postand

Motorsports has a long long way to go in India.
