2.Or may be the ninjas have the duties too.. might be ninja is just worth 1.4 lakhs (in USA it is actually 1.4 lakhs)... so here its is around 3L.. so im now wondering why the custom ppl let out words like only bikes above 800 cc have duties...
All bikes regardless of cubic capacity have the same duties. It is just that the import of bikes over 800+ is LEGALLY allowed, where as the bikes below that (600's for example) cannot be brought in as CBU's, unless a company gets it in as CKD and gets it homologated through ARAI.

The Ninja 250R costs 2.20 lakhs ($4600) in the US, that too for the carb version, not the FI one which we have in India.

A wet weight of just 170 kgs in a 1.2 Litre class, well, only Ducati can do it.
My money will be on the Multistrada!

Visited the showroom today and saw the bikes in flesh. It was drool maal with so many Ducatis around and was not able to stop staring at them. Diavel and Multistrada were too good. All of them are sold out except for one Monster. Except Monster, others have a waiting period of couple of months. According to sales guy, Diavel is in huge demand . Would shortly see Ducatis putting Bangalore streets on fire .

Here are some pics from my humble mobile cam.
