Would you still buy a RE if Honda or any other brand lets say HD decides to launch a cruiser at the same rate or lets say +-50,000 for Indian buyers? When the bookings of CBR250R opened a few of my friends cancelled the C5 booking and headed staright to Honda, even though they are in 2 different segments. Even Aquila 250 for 2Lacs will give RE pretty tough competition forget the Honda

No, the reason is that they have a manufacturing capacity of only around 5k total bikes per month, whereas the demand is around 9-10k total bikes.

PS: I've booked a C5 on Sept 1st and am expecting it in around March-April, very frustrating as now the only bike I have is my father's HH CD100 Although I'm starting to like that too.

First your comparison is wrong!!! Do not bring things of past into present situation...
        1. At present the market is flooding which is not the case in past
        2. There's a huge competition which is good for customers which was not a thing of past
        3. You can simply count atleast 30+ models available from all the manufacturers today, which is not a thing in past.

So DO NOT, compare the past with present & talk only w.r.t to present scenario.

Err...I think you haven't got the point. Would request to see what's happening in RE as a company. They're in full force setting up another factory to ramp up production for the huge market demand & that's only for the PRESENT scenario. However, market analysts say that there's going to be even more demand for RE by 2012.

Well, I'm not a fan of push rod technology. However, if RE makes one with spring valves, then I'd definitely love to buy one from RE.

PS - BTW, RE is not a cruiser , its still a big street bike. Well may be a little exception to TBTS.

Err...how does that qualify? May be your friend is highly impatient & may be he only wanted a ride & not something to enjoy. I don't know.

Ok, so what's the point? Both are two different technologies.

+Million; This is the point. That clearly shows the demand for the market in this tough competitive environment.

Why not? What does history repeating itself mean? Bajaj Chetak had almost no competition.

Same goes for RE, they have virtually no competition today. Its like history repeating itself

They better do it quick, else even they know with the rate of launch of new models from other manufacturers, they will be left out pretty soon.
          Market Analysts are seldom correct.

Well, I'm not a fan of push rod technology. However, if RE makes one with spring valves, then I'd definitely love to buy one from RE.

Thats your opinion, however given an option most would go for Honda

PS - BTW, RE is not a cruiser , its still a big street bike. Well may be a little exception to TBTS.

yes, RE is not a cruiser thats the closest you could get to one in India until HD, Aquilla arrived.

Err...how does that qualify? May be your friend is highly impatient & may be he only wanted a ride & not something to enjoy. I don't know.

Lets not try to gauge whether CBR250R is a fun to ride or not. Let it come out first. Fun is pretty subjective, you may have fun with RE, not neccessarily others.

Ok, so what's the point? Both are two different technologies.
Point is people are ready to cancel bookings of C5 when they have an option. With more options the days of long waiting period in RE may be things of the past.

What RE people are try to do now they should have thought it atleast 5-6 years back.Just because of fear of being thrown out of market by foreign companies they are gearing up.When harley within just 1year can start CKD operation I don't understand what RE was doing from decades..

@Chinmayakar - I'm tired explaining things to you; you simply don't seem to get the point or have an open mind to accept the reality. Why BAL stopped making scooters is entirely a different story, if you've patience, search for the thread & you can educate yourself. I'm pretty sure you haven't got your facts straight & sry about that. Anyway, I'm outta this, I'm not going to comment anything further. PERIOD!!!

                good news?

why RE bashing starts the moment there is a thread about RE. i dont know. but coming to the topic. A twin RE (preferably parallel because they would be able to copy from the old samples and not make a mess) is certainly welcome and more so if they actually come in common man's affordability range. But I seriously doubt it. as far as comparing an RE to any other bikes goes, well if a honda twin comes in similar price range, it is true no one will buy it, the RE i mean. right now, the fact is only RE is making big CC bikes and those who believe in "displacement" and don't have big budgets are buying it. Give a little credit to the company, it is still the only only company that makes a 500 single. no other company despite their big japanese parent R&D, finances, and what not could not muster enough courage to make a 500 single in the budget range that RE gives us. be it honda, suzuki, yamaha or any one. those who can afford big bikes from these producers were never and will never be on RE's radar. i am really happy thinking that a company that was very recently in the past almost down in the dumps is now not able to cope with the demand and thinking about increasing their capacity. may RE twin come and sell like hell, so others also think about such bikes so that those brothers on our forum who dont like RE, can also have affordable twin cylinder bikes and someday be man enough to thank RE

So, lets wait patiently (because without doubt it will take time and my son might be able to ride a twin RE).

PS: I ride a bullet, so my views might be biased and i am not ashamed.

As Argee said..RE needs to work on its quality...trust me buddy it RE gets that right I dont see any reason why an Indian buyer will not go for one...in India,as per my understanding, people also look for after sales support and costs (spares, servicing etc.), and I guess RE can beat them on that front. moreover just like HOGs RE owners are a cult...even with is current shortcomings, RE sales are good in numbers..so what a few people change the decisions to CBR or whatever..if its RE you want, its RE you buy...
                    Live large...

RE is one company which everyone loves to hate.

RE is one company which everyone hates to love.

Whatever it is, I wish well for them. They're only fearing competition now, they never had to innovate anything else apart their old technology in their past. But never too late to realise, that's the reason why competition is good. It makes companies push themselves to better themselves, and I'm happy to see RE realising that.
