On a serious note, I don't see this making much progress because this will bring OPEC countries on the streets from their Bugatti Veyrons. They are a big enough cartel and won't want to see their only source of income being obliterated.

Moreover, the world economically can experience a major change if Hydrogen comes to the rescue which will furthermore take 20 years to come to India. Seriously in my opinion the government will never take a step forward in this direction. Take an example of Solar Power, India receives about 27% of the sun's energy which is by far a lot as compared to the world, how much do we use it??? What is the government doing to promote this??? NOTHING!!! There are a few companies I saw operating in this field which is why its expensive!!!
The Conclusion - PETROL(Prices) WILL RISE!!!!!

There we go GOVERNMENT bashing all over again. Such hatred and Anti-Government sentiment for our government and yet we let ourselves to be governed by them. Why dont you guys do a Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen or a Jordan in India instead? Pun intended, lest I be charged with sedition too.

Anyways, this low cost fuel is still at the research stage. Will take donkeys years to be implemented in the developed countries itself. That is, if the EV's (Electric Vehicles) or the HV's (Hydrogen Vehicles) do not become commercially viable until then. Nothing can change the subsidies or taxes on our fuels except revolutions like the ones in Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen & Jordan, which is impossible to expect from us Indians???

Perhaps between the complete hydrogen usage & complete petrol usage there is one more option also IMO. To avoid huge losses they may even blend both these fuels to regulate the fuel prices & keep the companies away from losses.
NOT BEEN THERE NOT DONE THAT

Thts true. We cannot blame the government only. Agreed that the government is implementing heavy taxes on petroleum products. But we should not only talk about the issue just for the sake of it. Its good that alternative fuel is been researched on. Although it may take some time to be implemented, may be it can help reducing the pollution issue. Further, I read in a magazine that the Americans already have tested electric bikes which can do speeds in excess of 100miles/hour. I don't remember the details since it was some time back. But yes, if we can get these machines in India, SBKs would become affordable for the enthusiasts who want to one but cannot due to high maintainace.

                  Petrol in MALAYSIA: INR18/litre
                  Petrol in Bangalore(INDIA): INR65/litre

Before accusing out Government for anything...here is a little exercise for you dude......

Run to the local cylinder shop and ask him how much does refilling a cylinder cost...ok?
The come read this article http://pakistannewsblog.com/2011/02/...-rs-10-per-kg/

and then talk about comparing the petrol prices in different countries.

In Pakistan, Govenment has given a subsidy on Petrol, in INDIA we have subsidized LPG (cooking gas - used in every home unlike PETROL/DIESEL).

It is for the benefit of Common Man, Petrol is a luxury, LPG at home is NOT.

So before knowing the entire facts, no one has the right to make any comparisons.

i think 'you' need to do some research.
with all taxes whatsoever the actual price should never cross 40.
do you even know how the pricing system works?

Before talking about the pricing system and concluding to the price of 40 bucks by yourself, go understand the central and state government taxation rules, and if you are incapable of that, you can right a letter and seek that information under RTI act.

And for your kindest info, the different in prices between your city and mines is not more than a buck, and if you think that yours is the only city where the petrol is prices high, look around and you do the running to other cities.

Correct, the prices are double, if there are 1000 houses, 1000 houses would use LPG daily but 1000 wont use Petrol everyday, so the quantity of LPG spent is higher than of Petrol/Diesel.

Petrol and Diesel were partly subsidized by BP,HP Indian Oil. Shell lubricants was the only one not recieving that subsidy.

I dont say fuel is cheaper, but comparing the prices with other countries is ridiculous if you are not comparing the basic cost of living of a common man. (which does not include Petrol/Diesel)
