Enters into a one-year partnership with Deccan Chargers

Delhi, 12th April, 2011: Making its entry to the Indian Premier League (IPL), India Yamaha Motor has entered into a one-year partnership with IPL franchise Deccan Chargers (DC) for the ongoing season of the mega cricketing event.

The deal entitles Yamaha the right to be referred as the “Official Team Partner” status in all its advertising and promotions including web promotions, right to be mentioned in all official media release by DC, right to unlimited usage of DC name and logo. Besides this, Yamaha can also use images and signatures of minimum three players of DC. It also has access to players for two days of promotion and events of Yamaha.

Apart from this, the Yamaha logo will also appear on leading side of players’ helmets and caps.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Roy Kurian, National Business Head, India Yamaha Motor, said, “With cricket being the unofficial religion in India, what better way to be associated with the game than the mega event - IPL. Being the most watched sports event besides the Cricket World Cup, IPL serves to be the most lucrative platform for strong branding and reaching out to consumers. Yamaha has a strong presence in the Hyderabad market and being associated with Deccan Chargers will surely be of mutual benefit and productive. We are very enthusiastic about the new deal and look forward to share an effective relationship with the team.”

Commenting on the association, Mr. E. Venkat Reddy, Director-Operations, Deccan Chargers Sporting Ventures Limited said, “We are very happy to associate with Yamaha as co-sponsor for IPL 2011 season. Yamaha is an exclusive and trusted brand, stands for performance excellence and I am sure these similarities between partners are a winning combination and will surely lead to a successful outcome.”

As part of the deal, Yamaha’s brand logo will also feature on all promotions done by DC across various communication material including DC program catalogue and web promotion. Yamaha will also enjoy ticketing and hospitality entitlements at the team’s “home” stadium. It will have right to five exclusive top-end hospitality seats per match and twenty other general stand tickets per match.

A good move, but seems like a last minute one.

Saw the Yamaha logo sticker () almost falling off (half-peeled off) a DC player's cap. They could have done with having an embroidered piece stiched if the decision was taken earlier.

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.
