  • OT:- Force India sets up young driver scheme

Though OT, I still feel we got to appreciate what Mr Mallya is doing, I just hope this is a big success and we get good quality drivers in future.

Now if Mr Mallya could set his eyes on MotoGP then it will be awesome.

The Force India team has set up a new academy for young drivers, in the aim of nursing talent in India.

Named the "hunt for one from a billion" the programme will begin this month with trials in seven cities across India, giving children aged between 14 and 17 the chance to drive a go-kart.

The 14 quickest in each city will be chosen to compete in a grand finale at Silverstone, where they will undergo a programme which includes driver tuition, media training, and other activities.

Ten drivers will then be selected to complete their Silverstone experience with a race in Formula Silverstone cars, with three winners to be announced in the inaugural Indian Grand Prix.

"The setting up of the Force India F1 Team Academy is a historic milestone in the sports arena in India," said Force India boss Vijay Mallya.

"It marks the first time that anyone has ever embarked on such an ambitious programme in India.

"Our goal is to create a pool of talent and groom aspirants who show exceptional promise by providing them with the necessary corporate funding and support. Our programmes will provide a clear professional career path in motorsport so that one day our selected candidates are able to represent India in the international arena and hopefully bring glory to the nation."

        The King of good times..

Glad to see such an initiative being taken up by Force India.

The upcoming F1 track near Noida is only going to increase the enthusiasm & participation in motorsports manifold, & I'm sure the racing culture will evolve very quickly now.

Cheers to India's future in motorsports.

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

I wish there was a race track in Bangalore, my son is 1+ years old and is showing some interest in bikes, I hope his interest keeps growing, I will do what ever I can to get him on to the track, but first we need a few tracks across the country .
