I dont think they are in a super hurry to choose a tech. partner since it was mentioned some where that honda will be the tech. partner till 2012/2013...
On the other hand, if aprilia(they can definitely partner with hero in the current scenario) or BMW join hero, i'm sure the indian biking scene will see epic heights...
But i think discussing on this point is kind of waste now since we are speculating something thats gonna happen in 2013.......
someone has given this information that heromoto is goinh to launch three bikes in this year one some special bike, another a cruiser250cc and third a 125cc bike.where is that news now.is it true or a matter of guess only.
If Hero is aiming at replicating the success it achieved with Honda by teaming up with a new partner, I doubt they will get expected results. Honda is renowned across the globe for its reliability. The same reliability came to India in form of Hero Honda. I don't see any other bike maker enjoying such repute.
As for european makers, will they be able to come up with air cooled 100, 125cc mills than are built like tank and go on and on without niggles of maintenance? I am sure Hero wants to retain its 100cc customer rather than aiming for niche.
^ that's a baseless claim. Do you know who is helping Hero in its branding initiative?
Yes I do Satyen.. But i think you've misunderstood my point.. What I meant is, if they want to get the popularity similar to the Pulsar brand in just a year or two, they'll most certainly not get that.. Bajaj gained that after ten agonizing years.. Even if you flood the media with Hero Moto campaigns, the rural Aam Aadmi, who is incidentally their largest share of customers, will immediately look at the missing HONDA Badge and have second thoughts about putting down his money for the purchase.. Right now, they need not just branding, but proven reliability to go with it.. Imagine a guy shelling out 1.2+L for the ZMR replacement, only to find it isn't improved in any real way.. OR, a family guy shelling 50+k for a reliable commuter only to find it as another bad example like the TVS Victor..
And, I think I'm correct in saying that R&D doesn't give PERFECT results the first time.. So, I just wish that they take the right step after having woken up from their 25 years of SLEEPING partnership in technology.. Hope this clears the air for you..
Rightly said man, it would be inept if HH tries to cope with the current demand for higher segments amid youths. Its not at all an easy affair to design 250+ cc bikes without a good R&D back-up. This holds same for Bajaj and TVS as well. 220 to 250cc looks only a 30 change but the success of anything above 250cc would be the technology playing a giant role. HH is open enough to accept facts and it definitely is a good move.
We wish success is placed at their urn asap.
sigpic Your bike is way better than babes, only thing is that you need a proper vision to mull over this fact. :D
The day a 100% indigenous Hero Moto bike rolls of its assembly.. that will be an interesting one.
An indigenous effort will need at least 4-5 years of incubation. So, if Hero start today, they will come up with a bike in 4-5 years. Lets hope that a new technology donor does not send HeroMoto in sleep mode again.
I would b happy they dont find any. This could result of a R&D section of own and they could hit a jacpot. Else perish for ever.
Other option is Yamies. They r desperate to penetrate the market and collaboration could work. But its very unlikely as they got a stable market for them to grow now.

BMW is a kingkong as far reliability goes. Go ask any tourer who drives BMW.
My thoughts are subjected to personal experiences/internet articles. Please read my comment carefully before replying. :)

Thats true. BMW makes some of the best tourers and S1000RR is probably the best superbike. But what Hero needs is 100-125cc aircooled engines to plonk into Splendor and Passion.
