Probably, God made an example of him just to clarify that you have responsibilities too, and conveying that God can't run behind each of the 6 billion people, saving them all the time.

But we, most of the Indian people won't wear it still until some accident happens to and ruins their family.

God can make everyone wear helmets, by such examples, eliminating one member from each family, and then by heck, people will wear it!!!
But then god will be ashamed on himself, creating such a beautiful world and then destroying it that badly...

Sorry if this is a bit too much philosophical... Typical Piscean nature of mine!
OT heheheh .. must say quite a twisted view of workings of GOD ..

      Irony it is...

Just wonder it this would have brought some sense to the remaining 500+ riders protesting against helmets.

Sadly many cities in India have still not realised the importance of helmets.

Talking of helmets, I got a traffic fine violation for "riding without a helmet" for a sum of Rs.102, and named some weird location on 25th June, time around 1130 in the morning.
I knew it was impossible for that person to be me - firstly, I wear a helmet even if I ride 100meters, and I was not even riding a bike that day. But the fine amount was so small, I preferred to pay it instead of protesting and spending 4 times that amount.
        Overzealous Bangalore cops in action!

Buddy, what are talking about? There are many political groups here in the city who had rallied against helmet laws.

            This happens only in Pune.

I dunno about Pune, but here in Chennai, some small time parties were trying very hard, but did not get a chance to stage such idiotic rallies.. I'm surprised it actually happened in Pune.. I was there for two months in 2009 and i saw that people in general were always following all the rules, rather than trying to go against it, like in Chennai..

Pune these days (since 2009) is much more disciplined in terms of traffic sense. People who have seen the Pune of 2005-2008 know that it used to be chaos. The situation improved only after the Commonwealth Youth Games (2008 end). The Anti-Helmet protests happened back in 2005. The situation at the time was so bad that I used to be scared to cross a signal when it was green. The only safe way to do it was to knowingly and purposely waiting for the Traffic Lights to turn RED and then cross the square.

.................!!!!! Someone called almighty do exist, although no one notices it until something drastic like this happens.

In this case, that powerful entity is on side of biker's well-being.
Since, such helmet less revolution can become the cause a huge number of fatalities all-over the world if it goes on without any set-back like this.

However cruel it may sound I do not mourn his death. I mean he was a moron. Such folks are available closer home. Chennai is a prime example of reckless driving and delhi of drunk driving.Pune when I was there was also quite bad. Bangalore most folks used to wear helmet because the rule was strict.

why does everyone get so self-righteous when it comes to the helmet law???

riding above the speed limit is also a law to ensure "your" safety.

how many out there who follow speed limits ardently too???

(99.9% of all top speeds posted on this website were done on public roads.)

there have been biking related deaths even when a helmet was worn.

wearing/not wearing a helmet has nothing to do with being an idiot.

there have also been numerous instances where the rider was below the speed limit but still died, because he wasn't wearing a helmet. The accident doesn't always have to be the rider's mistake.
