one reason can be that people are finally graduating from 100 cc so they are going fro Disc 125 or P135. because these segmets didn't exist earlier, but they do exist now, so sales in 125 & 135 segment will come from somewhere, now 150cc and above ppl, will not degrade, so most probably some of the potential customers of D100 have gone for D125 or P135

I think the platina was advertised to return 100 kmph (as per ARAI) and not the disco... The platina does return a respectable 80 - 85 kmpl according to the claims...Originally posted by raja_roadster View PostThe disco100 is marketed saying it returns 100kmpl which it actually never does even when rode very sanely hardly it manages 70 which brings very bad image this is what i saw and heard when i went to service my dads discover100 at the svc"stay hungry, stay foolish."

Discover 100cc was indeed promoted as a bike with 100kmpl mileage!!
But, reported figures are between 70-80, which are not bad. Surely launch of Disco 125/Disco 150 worked in favor of Bajaj as they get better margins compared to Disco 100.Let's bring down the monster of corruption to it's knees.. please visit http://ipaidabribe.com/

This has become Bajaj's routine :
1. Launch a new bike.
2. Enjoy good sales for first 6 months because of good features, price, claimed mileage.
3. Experience dropping sales for the next 6 months because of inferior quality, drop in fuel efficiency of not-so-new bikes.
4. Stop the bike's production.
5. Give 'quitting old xxx cc platform for a better platform' as the reason.
6. Launch a bike with the same name with differenct xxx cc.
7. Repeat the above steps !

Does that confuse the customer?
Splendor and CD are here from ages... Even an illiterate knows which is splendor and which is CD or which one is passion.
In case of bajaj platina and discover models, there were PLENTY of different versions. So people get confused. Hope u got it now.
Ya, this may be one of the reasons. They usually claim funny levels of fuel efficiency from their bikes unlike other brands who just say "good fuel efficiency".Originally posted by raja_roadster View PostThe disco100 is marketed saying it returns 100kmpl which it actually never does even when rode very sanely hardly it manages 70 which brings very bad image this is what i saw and heard when i went to service my dads discover100 at the svcFrom variable Bhps to a constant 17.6 Bhp.

Why shouldn't he when he respects a company... There are many like you too who will lick a certain jap even though they will always treat the Indian market like a piece of shit... And hold a press conference for a sticker job and call it an all new and improved bike...Originally posted by fast_ferocious View Post

None of this happened with Discover 100 and it's not going to happen, so chill, it's not going anywhere.. there isn't any drop in sales/quality.Originally posted by fast_ferocious View PostThis has become Bajaj's routine :

exactly!! these people feel like only HH should have supporters, you can't support any other company. Usually jap fans are ready to pounce on Bajaj at the very first sign of bad news, we all know that, but it surprises me the way they play that old recorded sequence of statements. They wouldn't mind to play it for nth time, without checking if that applies to the current situation. I'm learning to ignore such ignorant statements.

Exactly!Originally posted by payeng View PostYou have got your point of view and I have mine.
First of all, I'm not being paid by any Japanese bike maker or an Indian one for that matter. I've just pointed out how some people make weird and biased statements towards a particular manufacturer of their choice. And where did I hail a 'certain jap' in my post? Infact I respect bajaj for whatever competition they've created against the Japs. But I won't hide the bitter truth about the relatively lower quality of their products. Neither would I shy out criticizing the 'sticker-job' game of the japs. All of 'em have their own set of pros and cons. The point is to have unbiased discussions, without unnecessarily comparing the companies especially for petty things. Peace.Originally posted by j4zb4 View PostWhy shouldn't he when he respects a company... Time will show what will happen. I've been seeing everything of it happening atleast for the past 3-4 years.Originally posted by vrugonnab View PostNone of this happened with Discover 100 and it's not going to happen, so chill, it's not going anywhere.. there isn't any drop in sales/quality.From variable Bhps to a constant 17.6 Bhp.

Chill guys. Let's just discuss facts and not personal comments...
Actually, ARAI claims a mileage of 91 kmpl, so maybe ridden sanely on a highway, it might return good figures. Of course, the 5th gear is the reason for its good mileage, but it could be the opposite too specially in the city.
I think a Discover 100 is a great commuter, as I rode one. 25 kmph in 5th was very much maintainable and the low rpm torque was very good.
The only reason why it might have faded is Discover 125's release. Discover 150 is still far positioned from 100, but 125 is definitely very close's closeness in terms of mileage and price. Plus the amazing dual color tone in the 125.
After knowing this, what would you choose between Discover 100 and 125?
See, Bajaj's sales are increasing, compared to the same periods in the last year. And Discover 100's sales are decreasing, isn't it obvious that its due to internal competition?
Of course, I'm not commenting on reliability because I don't own it. A friend of mine purchased it on my advice maybe two years ago and he seems happy with it.---
