  • Motorcycle lane splitting Bill passed by California Assembly: xBhp News

California has become first state to allow motorcycles to weave between car that are slowed by traffic. The California Assembly approved Bill 51 on 28th May, permitting motorcyclists to split lanes so long as they do so at speeds no faster than 50 mph and no faster than 15 mph than traffic in adjacent lanes is moving.

The Bill was introduced by Assemblymen Bill Quirk (D-Hayward), Kansen Chu (D-San Jose) and Tom Lackey (R-Palmdale), they said that this practice should be legal so the state can offer safety guidance.

A UC Berkeley study found that lane splitting is safer, compared to being stopped in traffic.

    The Assemblymen Bill Quirk said:
    .

    While other said:
"They usually encounter many motorcyclists zipping between lanes at high speeds. They are bullies on the road, and they expect everyone to move over. This would be very bad legislation."
California law enforcement officers for decades have allowed lane-splitting when traffic is congested, but there's never been a law saying it's legal.

They don't ride bikes, but they developed all the trimmings of an outlaw motorcycle club: patches, club colors, and a fiercely violent process of initiation. They're the largest gang in New Zealand with around 30 chapters across both islands.

Media access to the Mob is rare, which is why this photo series by Jono Rotman is a big deal.

Jono Rotman explained that how he got excess to the mob:

                    Guys check this out:

PGMV8 is Your Basic 2 Liter V8 Superbike from Australia

PGMV8 is Your Basic 2 Liter V8 Superbike from Australia- 334 horsepower should do the job

PGMV8 motorcycle from Australian builder Paul G. Maloney
It looks like the Aussies have built a beautiful new V8 motorcycle, the PGMV8. Builder Paul G Maloney, assembled his team, drawn from the shops of World Superbike, MotoGP, Formula One and various other design and racing environments and, starting in 2008, created this impressive 1996cc, 90 degree V8 engine and placed it in a package that, filled with fluids, comes in at 534 pounds. It certainly looks right and is one more example of how a V8 motorcycle should be done, quite a long way from the automotive transplants we're more accustomed to seeing.
PGMV8, 334 horsepower and 157 pound feet of riding exhilaration
The DOHC 5 valve per cylinder V8 runs 13:1 compression, Mikuni throttle bodies feed the fuel and everything is controlled by a Motec M130 ECU and software. Sand cast aluminium crankcases contain the flat plane crank, machined out of a solid piece of En36 steel, heat treated and nitrited before final grinding and balancing. An Akrapovic titanium exhaust lets gasses escape in a free flowing system which sounds great, (see video below) but requires carbon fiber mufflers for legal road use.
                    PGMV8 looks compact and powerful
The rest of the bike ticks all the boxes with a chrome-moly trellis frame in front with machined aluminum parts in the rear, Ohlins suspension, Marchesini wheels, Brembo brakes, a high end package all around.

There's certainly some high end building going on in Australia these days and the entire PGMV8 team did a great job on this one. Nice work!

Muscle bike segment usually means Vmax and VRod. Thats where the Diavel is. Except for the fact that its **** ugly.

                          From Visordown: New Kawasaki ZX-10R

Kawasaki released teaser images a month ago, saying that for 2016 the ZX-10R would be getting some updates, but the 2016 incarnation has been comprehensively reworked and now includes:

A heavily revised engine featuring a revised cylinder head, titanium exhaust system, electronic throttle valves and lighter internals
New electronics including an inertial measurement unit, traction control, launch control, ABS, engine braking control and a quick shifter
                          A revised frame and swingarm
                          Brand new Showa gas forks
                          Ohlins electronic steering damper
                          Brembo brakes
With 200hp, it makes the same power as the current bike although that figure climbs to 207hp with ram air. Torque is slightly up at 113.5Nm at 11,500rpm. Kawasaki says its kerb mass is 206kg, which is 5kg more than the current model.

                          Engine

The engine has undergone a major reworking. The cylinder head intake ports have been machined at an angle to create a straighter path for air entering the combustion chamber, which has been reshaped to improve efficiency. The exhaust ports are now polished and have been made straighter and wider, while the titanium exhaust valves have widened by 1.1mm to 25.5mm. The intake valves are also made from titanium and the cam profiles have been changed to provide increased power at high revs.

Kawasaki claims the ZX-10's new electronic throttle valves result in ideal fuelling and engine output, as well as helping to keep down emissions from the Euro4 compliant engine. Kawasaki also says the system allows more precise control of the traction control and is what allows implementation of bike's new launch and engine braking control systems.

Other changes to the engine include thicker cylinder walls, a revised cooling system, the intake funnels have been reshaped and at 10 litres, the airbox has grown by 2 litres.

The gearbox has been given closer ratios for second to sixth gears, which Kawasaki says it also worked on to give the 2016 ZX-10 improved mid-low range acceleration, along with improved stability when downshifting. Certain gears have been given a dry film lubricant coating to reduce friction and improved shifting performance. The new bike also has a race-style cassette transmission located high enough that if owners want to change ratios to suit different tracks or conditions, they can access the cassette without having to drain the oil.

                          Electronics

Kawasaki say the new IMU interacts with the ABS, but it's not clear whether it's got a full-on cornering ABS system or something more like the Unified Brake System on the R1.

The new ZX-10 will come with a quick shifter as standard, which will allow clutchless downshifts with a race kit ECU.

Finally, the bike gets an Ohlins electronic steering damper, which Kawasaki says has been optimized for the racetrack and winding roads, to match the characteristic bike.

                          Chassis, suspension and brakes

The Showa Balance Free front suspension is brand new and Kawasaki says it was developed with Showa in World Superbikes. This new gas fork makes its mass production debut on 2016 ZX-10R. It uses a Damping Force Chamber to generate damping force outside of the main fork tubes, has an external compression chamber filled with pressurized nitrogen gas to manage pressure increases in the damping force chamber and compression and rebound damping are generated and adjusted independently from one another. Kawasaki claims the improved damping force responsiveness offered by the new Showa fork results in superb traction and absortion performance.

                          Styling and instrumentation

                          Specifications:

                          Engine

                          998cc liquid cooled 4-stroke inline-four DOHC 16-valve
