you are really underestimating it my friend, this really happens, there have been my friends who were caught and went through same treatment!
(by the way i happen to be a haryanvi too!)

i guess they are implementing this in gurgaon and maybe a few other places tha ti have'nt heard of.
From what i have seen in maharashtra,gujarat and rajasthan, the cops are just too lazy to go through the whole courtroom procedure and would rather just challn you or take a bribe.

Yeah in India you hav to pay fine's but thats all that it is, pay a fine and g your way. If you have the means you can ride like a maniac and get fined 20 times in the same day and the cops wil do just that; Fine You. There is no other form of punishment other than that fine, atleast none that is actually implemented.

To all the guys who are complaining about Indian lawlessness, i would like to tell you my real story.

Was challanned in Gurgaon for overspeeding (did not really know the speed limit but was at 75 in a 50 zone, My fault) . they just confiscated my RC and gave me a date to pay the fine.
when i showed up to pay the fine they told me it was mandatory to watch an hour long movie on 'road safety' before i could pay the fine. Watched it. the Instructor was very very serious to be honest and had the authority of not issuing back the documents if you failed to answer some simple questions regarding etiquette on road. All drunkies went to prison that day. However bad i felt, but i can say, the system is really improving! Some people were asked to appear before the magistrate and explain their case before their documents would be considered for re-issue.

So, you traveled the entire country or what?
There are a lot of places in hyderabad where breaking most of the traffic rules means you'll have to pay a fine, and i'm pretty sure its the same with other metro's...

^ This is China's biggest problem. They're total extremists! Ok, some people committed a crime by racing unlicensed bikes on streets, so you're gonna kill them or send them to 7 years of jail, is it?

This must be China's new method to control their evergrowing population. Find anyone violating the law and give them a death penalty

some specific locations?i thought it is possible in whole india,there are very less no. of cctvs,less no. of patroling cars on road,speed guns i have hardly seen,come to kolkata,i will show you a 3 km long butter smooth flyover where un-organized drags are going on every few minutes.speed limit is 40kmph,but you will find the slowest person there doing atleast 60-65 kmph.

some strict punishments must be given to law breakers on road but the Chinese way is simply unacceptable.
OT:
Challan/jail way in india should be replaced by challan+jail.I really look forward to see implementation of 2second rule in india which i think will reduce more than half of accidents.
seriously how many drivers/riders know one can go left in a junction-very few in non-metros.

Death penalty for illegal street racing

Two street racers in China could face the death penalty


TWO motorcyclists in China who were charged with dangerous driving may face the death penalty after street racing illegally in Shanghai.

Earlier illegal street racers faced less than 15 days in jail if it was found that their activities had no adverse consequences. However, police say that in line with new guidelines the pair may get a harsher punishment of up to seven years in prison or worse, if it is found that their actions may have been detrimental to the public.

According to police, the two men met on Friday 3 February at 8pm and proceeded to speed through the streets and repeatedly disregard traffic signals on Yamaha and Honda litre bikes.

Police noticed the pair on surveillance cameras, and patrolling officers attempted to stop the duo.

The two riders evaded the police but were later identified from the surveillance camera footage and arrested. Both bikes were confiscated and police later discovered that the Yamaha was unlicensed and the Honda was using another person's licence plates.

Government campaign aims to tackle road deaths

A NEW advertising campaign has launched, urging drivers to Think Bike! Think Biker!

The idea for the campaign was based on survey data that suggests drivers are more likely to notice a motorcycle if they know a biker themselves.

The adverts show bikers riding along with flashing neon signs attached to their motorcycle. The signs show the biker's name and gives you an insight into their life, with words like 'shy retiring type' or 'new dad'.

Road Safety minister Mike Penning said: "As a biker myself I know how great motorcycling can be but as Road Safety Minister I know that the statistics show bikers are tragically over-represented in road casualties and I want to see this number come down."
