Guys, there's a latest update. This bike has a video too:
2012 Honda CBR1000RR first in Hong Kong! - YouTube
Supposedly, this video was taken in Hong Kong. The 2012 1000RR will have new body panels, an advanced version of the C-ABS system, new front forks and rear monoshock, a tweaked engine and some other changes as well.

I like the new front end .... its no way only a cosmetic change ... wait till the tech. specs. are out ... other than that, it was already a perfect bike ...
btw, it does not look like its leaked at all ! the bike is standing in a showroom ! Dunno what honda has in mind ... its 4 months to next year !Last edited by fireblah; 08-22-2011, 04:10 PM.May the torque be with you..

It remains to be seen if Honda has also squarely gone after horsepower like kawasaki in a bid to trump the BMW.
Otherwise in my opinion the front definitely looks better than the current version, which frankly looks like its been head butted by a bulldozer !!
Waiting for more details on the internals I guess, n then things might get interesting!!Kawasaki Ninja : Because lazy sunday afternoons should be despatched at 160 kmph!!!
Hyosung Aquila : Because sometimes you need to look cool while riding at 40 kmph and you can do that only on a cruiser !!!

I don't think they're after the 200bhp race. Think about it... CBR 1000RR excels in the midrange, from 4000-9000 rpm. Any combined dyno readings show the Honda's midrange dominance.Originally posted by sukant08 View PostIt remains to be seen if Honda has also squarely gone after horsepower like kawasaki in a bid to trump the BMW.

I have seen many other such dyno readings (Bike UK, etc.) and all show the same thing.
Secondly, I don't think 200 bhp is possible with a 13,000 rpm redline... Is it?---

2012 Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade

20 years ago Honda shook up the sportsbike world with the release of the first Fireblade, the CBR900RR. The 900RR delivered big power in a middleweight-sized package.
2012 sees the Fireblade further refined with the CBR100RR, with Honda concentrating on rideability and handling, rather than chasing horsepower that can't be easily used.
The development team focused their efforts on chassis components, specifically a new-concept rear shock, Big Piston Fork, plus new 12-spoke cast aluminum wheels that provide even more rigidity. The 2012 CBR1000RR rear suspension system still features Honda's single-shock Unit Pro-Link configuration, but introduces the first "Balance-Free Rear Shock" on a production motorcycle, developed in conjunction with Showa, with patent protection pending.

In place of the conventional single-tube shock configuration, the Balance-Free Rear Shock design incorporates a double-tube design featuring a damper case plus an internal cylinder. The damper piston does not feature any valves; instead, the damping force is generated as displaced oil passes through a separate damping component.
In conventional rear shocks the damping force is generated in two places, the main and sub damping valves. In the Balance-Free Rear Shock, however, this action is handled in one circuit, allowing pressure changes to be controlled more smoothly by a larger body of oil. Adjusters for compression and rebound damping settings are on the top of the shock body for quick access.

Up front, the suspension now features inverted 43mm telescopic forks incorporating Showa's Big Piston Fork technology. This new fork has a larger damping volume to reduce the hydraulic pressure generated as the fork legs compress and extend. The result is more precise action during the initial stroke and smoother damping action, for improved handling, enhanced front-end feedback and a more solid feel during hard braking.
Newly designed bodywork following the layered fairing concept creates a large still-air pocket around the rider while also helping draw air through the cooling system. An integrated chin spoiler in the nose is said to reduce aerodynamic lift at speed.
Refined EFI settings make the engine more manageable, with smoother throttle response specifically at smaller throttle openings.

New LCD instrumentation communicates everything from gear position to coolant temperature and speed. The cockpit display now incorporates a digital bar-type linear tachometer that offers four selectable modes for style of readout. Other instrumentation includes gear position indicator, five-level shift indicator adjustable for sequence interval, clock/four-mode lap timer, coolant temperature, speedometer, trip meter/fuel efficiency/fuel consumption, low-fuel warning light and odometer/numerical tachometer.

The accompanying images are the USA model colours, including a very handsome tricolour "20th Anniversary" HRC scheme.
