      • Kudos to TVS!

Not for the ghastly mods they have done, of course, but for their promotion and ad campaign skills. That's one great example for anyone who's studying marketing. Catch customer's fancy and try to woo him for something that never existed.

Such a downer, this new wacky beast is. Shame it didn't do justice with the 'same bloodline'!

And put a halt to your expectations fellow riders. With such a dull-witted approach TVS can never catch the competition.

A completely new design would take some time (years). For example after Yamaha launched the R15 and FZ in 2008, it took around a good 3 years (early 2012) for Bajaj show off its Pulsar 200NS.

But in the meanwhile Bajaj did not mess with its Pulsar series too much.. it just very subtle changes and defended it's turf well and kept the brand alive and relevant.

As the only other Indian bike maker, I want TVS to really kick @$$.. but sad to say this but TVS, "This definitely does NOT appear like Racing DNA".

It was easy to defend turf in Pulsar's case as it was market leader! but, TVS can't hopt to do that by releasing these kind of upgrades, by the time they come up with a challenger market would move to a whole new level. Add to that P135LS, P220 DTS-i were absolute VFM, which reflected very well on overall pulsar lineup. TVS came up with Apache ABS, but they missed the point that it's not going to appeal masses. ABS is something that even enthusiasts are not clear about, so I don't know how in the world they expected market to receive it well i.e. bump up numbers for Apache brand. They need to seriously work on bringing out an all new Apache to withstand today's competition.

I Had seriously decided to upgrade....
TVS was much better, playing a silent observer....than making this worthless, disastrous mods.
This company is seriously missing a Rajib Bajaj kind of personality...

            RIP TVS......

I beg to differ slightly. We, most of the enthusiasts are clear about ABS.
ABS can save all the 3L's that matter to us: lives, limbs and lap times, specially considering that TVS tyres are the least grippy among the stock OEM tyres in the market.
But the whole package still matters most. TVS is going like, update just one feature in 2 years.

What has RTR Fi over 160? A handful extra features?
And what has RTR 180 ABS over RTR 180? One feature?

How can you expect miracles when you're adding one feature in 2 years?

Most of the TVS Enthusiasts already have their beloved RTR's, so would they trade in their rides and spend 30k extra, just to get ABS into it?? Nope. I wouldn't do that.

But if it came with a 200cc or power-tuned engine, then it definitely makes people think, whether its worth it or not.

My point is that any company adding one or two features/ changes, should not expect sales charts to fire up.

                • Every time TVS brought an upgrade to the Apache, it had something new on the platter, something new to offer (Barring maybe the Hyper edge) so it comes as no surprise that people are disappointed. A cosmetic exercise would have done, maybe a year back but with the competition mooving ahead, I see this as a senseless upgrade and with a premium of 5-6k as mentioned somewhere in the forum, I wonder who would be interested to go for such a bike.
Gets full marks for poser value though, from my side. Nothing much to cheer about.
And if this is a stop gap arrangement, I really fail to see the point there, failure of EPIC proportions on TVSs part

                  • And if anyone from the company is seeing this, just know that we are sick and tired of waiting for the racing kits that you promised if not a much needed engine upgrade.

What's it with the 30K thing? we are not talking about the CBR right?
The Apache is ever willing to red line each cog, but the Rider ain't. Enjoy RTR, Safely. Period.

                      • The way they depicted the pic it was like a twin headlamp which surely instilled high hopes for the fans but what came out seems to be a stickering. TVS & HMC competing for the title of Best stickering job company.

                        1) Apache 3d logo - Much inspired from the Pulsar 3d chrome logo.
                        2) The Indian flag logo at the back looks like take away from Ducatis & Put it in this bike. Thats a big copy. Only thing different is Ducatis have red (Italian) & this one has Orange (Indian).
                        3) Quite late in providing pilot lamps (wolf-eyed kinda looks... again Pulsar inspiration )

Not only a new powerful >=200cc was needed with new technologies but also a new model was needed. More or less TVS has only one model in the entry sports segment but in the entry-premium segment they have none. Each of the competitors has atleast on model in the entry-premium segment (barring Suzuki). If not a fairing, a true naked street look would have helped.

What I see all the Apaches whether 180, 180ABS, 160 all look the same and is the same model. If TVS doesn't provide variety in their models and a good flagship product they are history.
                        Whats there in a signature?

@ Payeng, Is this what the Hype was all about? Surely disappointing for people who were looking for a more powerful hooligan carrying the RTR DNA. This seems like TVS is carried away by what HH does it, all the time & everytime. I'm making up my mind that significally the mill would be the same 180

In my opinion, TVS is buying some time before they can launch totally brand new Apache's (la Pulsar 200NS style).

If they have stared the process recently, then it could probably take 2-3 years before the new apache's hit the roads. Till that time they have to keep the product from getting stale.. that's why probably this new upgrade.

IMHO they did the same thing with Hyper Edge & it is now like kind of Phased out & definitely doesn't stand out in-midst of the HH & Yamaha products at-least in the South. In a matter of 2-3 yrs do you think they will still survive the market if they have just started sketching a new radical design?
