Probably it has to do with Mahindra being in MotoGP? I mean, you do get a GARGANTUAN LOT of research information on two wheelers if you are a team in MotoGP. And Yamaha is known to incorporate race technologies into their productions bikes. (the new Yamaha R15 V2.0 for example?) Just a thought.

whats the matter with yamaha.yamaha doing good in india but not great.whats the talk?yamaha should do independently and mahindra same with mahindra.
      my first two prefernce
1- i want to see or like to see indian companies rule in bikes manufacturing
2- more technical and higher cc bikes in the pocket of middle class blike lover

As far as i know this tie-up is done in order to reduce the manufacturing costs for scooters of Yamaha.I have heard that Yamaha plans to launch scooters by April-May 2012 but production cost is vey high as initially volumes will be low so in order to reduce the production costs this tie-up may be possible & in return Mahindra may be getting some technical benifits. So it would be benificial for both the parties.

This seems to be the only logical explanation for a tie up between the 2 mismatched companies

I don't think it would be a great idea....
Yamaha is going to bring its scooter segment to India and what will happen to the Rodeos and Duros..
Kinetic lost their market and Mahindra bought it...
Again, Mahindra went to another partnership which resulted in some disaster in the form bikes....

Yamaha would not like its reputation tarnished...

Mahindra has strong market in 4 wheelers.. but not in 2 wheelers... rather not even a single exciting product in 2 wheeler segment.

              Interesting piece of news!!
I agree with most members here, that the tie-up doesn't seem to make too much sense from a Sales & Marketing perspective.
If this deal goes through, I see Mahindra gaining more than Yamaha in the bargain.

              Makes sense

              My views on the YZF-R15 V2.0: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/news/198...tml#post699240

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

If this works out then most of us Indian will be able to own a better or I must say a well suported Yamaha bike and with that I mean to own a R1/R6/MT01 et all for sure .

As said by Mahindra , Yamaha is really a automotive company which is very complicated when it comes to sharing anything .

I hope it works for all of us .

What makes you say that R1/ R6/ MT01 will be released/ supported well after this tie up? Mahindra might benefit, but what will force Yamaha to expand their superbike market in this tie up??

What do you mean by a well supported bike anyways? You mean a bike with good after sales and service?

Yamaha denies business partnership with Mahindra

Jamming the brakes on all rumours doing the rounds about Yamaha joining hands with Mahindra 2-Wheelers, the Japanese company released an official statement which says, Yamaha Motor denied media reports of its business partnership with Mahindra 2Wheelers and announced that it is committed to the Indian market and plans to make investments in capacity expansion as well as new product development.

Adding to the whole issue, India Yamaha Motor CEO & MD, Mr. Hiroyuki Suzuki said, “We are not looking for business partnership with any company. Our Mid-term plan is on track and we will be making sizeable investments for new product development, sales & service network strengthening and capacity expansion over the next few years.”

Guess that's the end to a spicy buzz conjured by the rumour mills.
