Motorrad readers have simply swooned over Ducati’s new 1199 Panigale by voting it ‘Best Sport Motorcycle’ despite the fact that only a handful of journalists have ever ridden it, none of them (presumably) amongst the voters.

on what basis did they come to such a conclusion then? i guess they are just going ga-ga over the design of the bike.

Well, Motorrad magazine readers are after all, the public. And the public give vote without giving a reason, and without any responsibility and accountability to anyone.

Frankly speaking, without riding it, I would vote for it too.. I think my reasons would be:

1. Its obvious that the spec sheets are out, and they look much better than their Japanese counterparts. By Simple maths, Panigale scr*ws the Japanese counterparts and to some extent, the BMW S1000RR too.

2. As for the ride, some Racers & journalists enjoyed it a lot, including Bayliss. And they agreed on most points about it. So, we can trust them (slightly).

3. Lastly, just like you mentioned, the design makes you fall in love with it. I know its a shallow and materialistic world.
