Does it mean the honda CBR cost 5 lakh less? Or the duty discount will be for 4 wheelers only?

You love biryani more than xBhp! Thats why!

Ouch, did somebody rap me on the knuckles for OT?

Coming to the topic, the whole thread seems pointless. I'd say it would be pointless expecting Honda to knock off dough on their Superbikes just because they did it with the Civic Hybrid.. and here we are discussing whether Yamaha would do something of the same sort to "counter" Honda's move...

          Get real mates..

Actually, Sunny bhai did say that even the 2007 R1 Stock is still unsold by Yamaha ... Maybe, they could do so to clear up the stocks.
It was ok in 2008 as machines were technically same. But, '09 R1 has a complete technical makeover. Remember, 2009 is coming and people won't take the '07 machine easily now ...

Secondly, their sales are stagnating now. Even the company was surprised at response initially but, now the dust has settled down.

I mean, even if not complete tax, atleast 1 Lacs rupees discount is feasible. right?

            --
@ Ansh aka Razor: Bro, let me Precise it up. Honda offered 8 Lacs discount on Civic Hybrid. ""Will Yamaha do it for R1/ MT?"" is our question. That's all ... Do read threads completely bro, atleast 1st Post ... Take Care.

Honda did it because there was no response to the Hybrid Civic. It was not offering status at that cost. But in this case Yamaha delivers something unmatched. At the time when other manufacturers are also comig with CBU's. Yamaha will not take this kind of a move.
