  • Bajaj Auto to launch KTM Duke on January 24

The Duke will be powered by a 200cc liquid-cooled and fuel-injected engine and will take on Yamaha's R15 and Honda's CBR250R.

Bajaj Auto will launch the KTM Duke bike on January 24 in Delhi, Rajiv Bajaj, MD of Bajaj Auto told NDTV today.

"The bike is already exported to Europe so in terms of production its already something that is in process," Bajaj said. KTM President Stefan Pierer will come down for the launch, he added.

The Duke will be powered by a 200cc liquid-cooled and fuel-injected engine and will take on Yamaha's R15 and Honda's CBR250R.

KTM Sportmotorcycle AG is an Austrian motorcycle, bicycle and moped manufacturer. KTM is most commonly known for its off road motorcycles though in recent years it has expanded into street motorcycle production.

Bajaj, however, refused to disclose the details of the new Pulsar. "If we were to show it too far in advance, it is bound to affect what we are currently selling. It's like the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S story. We don't want trouble for us," he told NDTV. Pulsar is the leader in the 150 cc segment in India.

Got the release news few days earlier. I think, the Duke should get some changes compared to the one that was reviewed:

      1. Of course, the rev limiter could go upto 11 krpm so that full power can be exploited.

      2. The gearing if made a little longer (1-2 tooth less at rear) could give a better top end, plus it would take lesser gearshifts to reach 60, 80 and 100 kmph (real) respectively.

Otherwise, it rocks! Its spec sheet alone is enough to clarify where it will be positioned in the market, no matter how exaggerated Bajaj tells it to be.

So it'd be a brother from Delhi who would be posting the "First" Ownership experience of the Duke out here and other forums!

nice quotes from Rajiv Bajaj, he is surely gonna make Pulsar a cult brand.

His clarity of thoughts and vision is something which I admire.. as an Indian I have great expectations from him and his company

For him its clear that its profitability that matter not just sales numbers.

Not necessarily, its just that the launch "function' is happening at Delhi.

Thanks for approving SunilG. I personally think that xBhp Mods should increase the frequency of approving atleast the "News" threads to retain its "News" element.

+1. More than the announcement of date for the KTM's official launch what intrigued me to post this video was the mere inspiration that Mr. Rajiv Bajaj offers through this interview. As payeng said his clarity of vision and mission is what, I think, would surely make Bajaj a world leader in select Motorcycle segment. Our country is blessed to have such dynamic businessmen who think Global and also act Global !

Actually he is Mr. Rajiv Bajaj (the guy responsible for motorcycles/Pulsar).. Mr. Rahul Bajaj (the guy responsible for the scooters/Chetak) is his dad.

He is such a humble & straight forward person, that's what I like most about him. How many CEO/MD's do you get to see in t-shirt/jeans even on official awards function.
