My doubt is....doesn't the airplane take off at 180kmph (the take-off velocity?). Or it takes off only when the pilot wants to?
Anytime when the pilot wants AFTER the plane has reached its minimum takeoff velocity.

If you don't want to take off, keep the ailerons down. However, its not really recommended because the wheels do have a maximum design speed after which they might fail. So once you reach the design take-off speed (it may differ from plane to plane) you better pull up.

In case u are interested in some more technical details, read on...

The minimum air-speed(note its not ground speed) required for an aircraft to stay airborne is called the stall-speed. If a flying aircraft loses air speed for any reason (say the wind changed direction) to below the stall-speed, the plane will simply fall out of the sky (it has happened)

The ailerons are any flexible or movable portion of the wings. Those which are used to spoil the aerodynamic shape of the wings to cancel out lift are called.....spoilers (kinda silly huh?)

With the spoilers 'on', the pilot tries to achieve take off speed. This is air speed and with favourable winds can be achieved sooner and in a shorter distance. Once there he just has to switch off the spoilers and the wings will start generating lift. Then he can get airborne.

Its really interesting to know how many million people are depending on those small metal flaps to get where they want.

Fighters typically have landing speeds around 240-250kmh so take off speeds are approx 300kmh since the angle of attack ie the angleof airflow to the wing-plane increases to give more lift but also more drag , so TO speed is higher to compensate . Landing is more of a controlled stall , so to speak . T-O speed of commercial planes like 747 or Airbus are lower around 250kmh . Small private planes can take off at even lower speeds , some as low as 120-130kmh .
Man will occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of the time he will pick himself up and continue on.

            Sad new guys! [V] [|)]

            The Drag is called off!

This is the reason they state:

quote:ATTENTION: Following the attack in Iraq which claimed the lives of 17 Italian soldiers and 2 civilians, the 9th Air Wing of Grazzanise Air Base has decided to cancel the Desmosedici V F104 Starfighter Event scheduled for next Sunday, for November 16th.
            Hard luck [|)]

But Life is more important than a drag!

              Hi,
I saw a drag-race competition on television which was organized by Hero-honda. In that none other than our brave but flop bollywood hero Hritik Roshan was able to beat a fighter jet which was flyin not rollin on the drag strip. It had a round Logitech web-cam[] underneath which was photographing the exotic lookin red Karizma which Hritik was riding. Be pround that an Indain bike is faster the foreign bikes.

Ans dtsi or classic owners don't even think of chasing a fighter-jet. Are u outta u'r minds??? Thinks only of aibos and holographic imagery u'r bikes are capable of producing or the ability 2 attract beautiful looking ladies

              Vivek

p.s: this is only abt the ad and not abt the zma. As a bike zma is beautiful but over-priced. This is my feeling being a p180 classic owner.
Like the aroma of burning rubber!
