If they do that, it would be just awesome!!
if it happens, post the deal, like lower capacity KTMs are now being produced here by Bajaj, one day a "Made in India" small Ducati seems very likely!

And I am already trying to Visualize the ad of Hero Ducati.

Hrithik Roshan this try to bring back his Chaddi from toofaan.

Ducati will surely learn to make stickers and launch new bikes with out having any technical difference. R&D division will be shelved and new Stickering Department will be enforced.

How about Hero Ducati Diavel + and Hero Ducati Super Monster and Hero Ducati Hunk Streetfighter.. and best one Hero Ducati Multistrada Star..

And just imagine.. Pawan Munjal sitting with Biker Jacket.. on a Hero Ducati 848 Evo ++.. with all new Nailpolish color scheme.

I don't support the idea of a small Ducati. Its a premium brand and must be kept so.

The richer part of the society looks for ways to differentiate between them and the rest of the society. Whether its righteous or not, but its the truth. Like, going to premium places, getting premium cars and bikes, etc. And Ducati is called the "Ferrari on two wheels".

Upto 795, its ok, but they shouldn't go any lower. I heard that Mercedes was sued by some premium customers when they attempted to get a smaller car into the market (can't confirm this, just "heard").

Otherwise, just like Tata got the Jaguar and RR, I totally support Hero's attempt to invest in Ducati. But, ironically or coincidentally, Hero recently seems more interested in companies producing the fastest V-Twins.... EBR and Ducati.

How many of the affiliation would Hero will need? Hero-Eric Buell & now Ducati. Are they having too much money or desperate to keep up their #1 position

                      I agree with Samarth.
Whether its a Hero-Buell or Hero Ducati, its win win for the end user.
But, the premium must not be diluted. I'd be sad to see a 150cc Ducati NXG on our roads. A Hero Ducati must not be lesser than a half litre, a.k.a 600 cc.

                      That'd be justice.
                      Same for Buell!

That's a beautiful initiative, man, I can't imagine the chaos that would happen if such a a deal were to come to fruition. But then, that's gonna be a stone turner in every aspect. Hope it becomes a reality.

                        Cheers!!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                        The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

I am not saying that Ducati should produce something that totally deviates from what they have been. They need not make a commuterish bike or anything which compromises on the technological front.

Just like what Kawasaki has done with the Ninja 250, for Ducati to get a grip on Indian markets and also to really make use of economies of scale that Hero is well capable of providing, should make a proper track tool which can be properly used for road purposes as that will be something which Indians would look for.

Also manufacturing it in India can control the exorbitant the prices Ducati charges normally.

Frankly even though Japs have bikes in the smaller capacity, they have successfully kept the "snob" value that the litre class owners would be looking for by intelligent marketing of their products.

Even now, though everyone knows KTM 200 is produced by Bajaj, but still no one calls it a Bajaj product. And even if u say "I am a KTM 200 owner", the snob-value begins right from there, so a 250-300cc Ducati would like just magnify this feeling and perception.

795 should just be starting for Ducati in the this strategy.

And i have heard too what you have mentioned about Merc.

For everyone worrying about Ducati losing it's shine. I don't think you need to worry. It will be more like what Bajaj is doing. On one side you'll have the premium Ducati bikes and on the other side you'll find 150cc+ Hero Motocorp bikes with Ducati based engines. Those engines will be a step below the Ducati, like the P200NS is a step below the Duke 200.

That's the only thing that makes sense, else they will collapse the high value of the Ducati brand and make a loss on their investment.
