Nice attempt by Honda. Decent looking basic motorcycle. So many entry motorcyles getting launched. Dream Yuga has everything nice except for a funny name which will make owners embarrassed
Decently stripped down version of shine I would say.
Looks like very bad days for hero starts from June. Dream Yuga, Cheaper Discover 4g, Hayate etc. Munjals you are waking up (sleepless nights)?

it will take more than a yuga to beat splendour and passion.

        it requires-
        • a contemporary and conventional styling which is more aggresive than splendour and passion.
        • reliability
        • mileage more than splendour
        • service interval more than splendour
        • a astounding warranty- something like 3 years or so with zero maintenance
        • lesser cost.
        • sturdy frame and overall bike.
        • slightly bigger tyres
        • slightly better brakes

very true, even if it will be a hit product then also it'll take ages & huge support to beat sales of splendor & passion..becoming no1 seller after beating hero won't be easy for anyone..

Believe me, No other Bike Maker in India can beat Hero sales Except Honda....
Yes, Honda can dethrone hero from it's number 1 position very soon...

P.s. - Only Honda Dream would have been a great Name..

After dream Yuga sales go up, Heros would definitely come down and with the ending term with Honda I see no reason why Hero would be able to stand Honda as well as Bajaj in terms of sales especially after June 2014.

I don't understand why many are suggesting that lack of service stations will be a hindrance for sales. From my experience of rural and urban Gujarat I can say that service stations mean little or less to people buying such bikes. Even in cities very few prefer to go for an autho. S.S. after free services are used. Most people prefer going to private mechanics as they try to repair stuff or give option of cheap non OEM parts. The Autho S.S. tend to replace any broken or damage parts which is very costly for price sensitive markets. Also mechanics are very easy to find, even in remote rural areas as Hondas typically tend to be engineered in a way that renders them easy to repair.

Also with advent of multi brand private showrooms in smaller market areas availability of bikes of brands like HH, Bajaj, TVS, suzuki and Honda is no problem. The only thing that matters for price conscious people is the word of mouth from some reliable source (usually relative!) about "Average"(F.E.), "Takau"(reliability) and "Bhaav" (Price)!
                      When in doubt...... Gas it!

This is really high price for a commuter bike with no special features. Honda is putting a bit too much premium for the brand name.

Gurgaon: Japanese two-wheeler major Honda today launched its second mass segment motorcycle 'Dream Yuga' in India priced at Rs 44,642 (ex-showroom Delhi).
The company's wholly-owned subsidiary Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) also announced to rope in Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar as a brand ambassador for the company.

"Honda retained the brand Dream as part of a global strategy that was first launched in 1949. This new bike is very economical with better mileage," HMSI's President and CEO Keita Muramatsu told reporters here.

Dream Yuga is powered by a 110cc engine, he added. The company sells 110cc motorcycle CB Twister in the country.

The company, which sold 21.07 lakh motorcycles and scooters in India last fiscal, is aiming to sell 27.5 lakh units in 2012-13.
