Because Suzuki is playing the old game of "Numbers" and trying to dominate the under 125cc market as of now. While there is nothing wrong with that game, Suzuki seems to forget that sometimes, one or two high end performance models in their products lineup will do wonders for the other products.Originally posted by Satyamzma View PostSuzuki Hayate,Log kyon Nahi Chalaate?
Look what Yamaha did. Where was Yamaha prior to launching FZ and the R15? The Gladiator was selling but in small numbers. Their sales were on par with Suzuki's current sales but they understood the market and gambled with a high priced 150cc machine. And now people swear by The SZ series too.

Suzuki DOES have a very potent 150cc bike. They simply don't seem enthusiastic about selling it. All they need to do to it is add 55w halogens, convert to full DC and switch to tubeless so that it shows off its touring DNA even more. And perhaps learn a thing or two from Hero Moto Corp and attractively color it.
Their job would be 100 times easier if they partnered with Maruti Suzuki in selling and servicing their bikes. Every tom, dick and harry would buy Suzuki bikes at 10-20% higher prices as well if they see the Maruti Suzuki logo on it

If we look at the last 6 month data, Suzuki and Yamaha are running quite neck and neck in terms of factory dispatches. And because Yamaha exports more units than Suzuki, it is in fact Suzuki which does sells more units per month as compared to Yamaha. Suzuki might not have an aspirational mass-market product, but they haven enough aspirational products of their own to attract the masses.Originally posted by princesirohi View Postsomewhat true...
The last 6 month factory dispatch data are as follows:
Company____Jan______Feb_____Mar_____April____May__ __June
Suzuki______35099___37336___35158___30635___36746_ __(Data Not released)
Yamaha_____39940___40655___41886___41886___69136 (for both May-June)Advice is a form of nostalgia.

i guess suzuki numbers also have scooters in it, we were talking about bike market only.
second thing is -- it is more about image, before the launch of R15 and FZ, yamaha india was though of as a flop company by general public, whereas after the launch of R15 and FZ, it is a good company. it has more to do with the image of company rather than actual numbers. not many ppl are able to buy R15, but definitely a lot think about it and take a test ride.
you have to generate that kind of desireability towards some of your company's products to generate interest in public.

We actually have that table ready right now!! I was quoting from that very table. But some data is missing which even Google god couldn't help us find.Originally posted by neil.jericho View PostGoing forward can we have the numbers in a tabular format? Makes it easier to compare them side by side. Model wise sales would be fantastic though I dont know if that info is available. Maybe xbhp should approach manufacturers and request for this data.
Edit: All the sales data (not modelwise) for most companies (HMC, BAL, HMSI, TVS, M&M) are 100% available. Only Yamaha and Suzuki are lethargic in releasing numbers.Last edited by antz.bin; 07-05-2012, 05:04 PM.Advice is a form of nostalgia.

Thanks for the nos, i eagerly await it every month.
As xbhp is already in a process of improving the presentation, i must add what will be a good addition:
1. Domestic nos. only
2. Presentation in tabular and graphical form
3. Segment/model wise nos. (if possible)
Most must be aware about teambhp.com sales figures presentation, but for reference i am attaching the link:
June 2012 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis - Team-BHP
Due to huge popularity, xbhp can also demand the nos. directly from the companies just like teambhp.
