Try buying a spare side stand whenever you go to the SVC the next time.... for 1st service maybe..
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

you will be having absolutely no problem since your bike has same engine as CB unicorn...Just do not crash your bike & it will be fun for years to come...same for Maestro owners..that scooter has got same engine as Honda Activa..ride safe & avoid accidents to safeguard plastic body parts..

            Still dont understand the logic....
Why would you anounce products, almost two years prior to Launch(coz you need atleast 1 year to build, and minimum 6 months to test).
And why could not they have sold the Impulse and maestro (even though with minimum profit),until 2014??This would atleast have helped them build the image,Then they would have anytime changed the Engine of impulse(from their own R & D),and call it an "upgrade"(and named it Impulse Pro).
This shows how unprepared they were, post split.Hopefully they would learn it quick...

i went along with my friend to hero showroom today.
staff, owner said it's a rumor. hero won't phase out newly launched bikes !!!
i was amazed by their reply, i told them aren't u updated ? havn't u read it on internet?
they replied that they will get the information till monday and forced my friend to book the bike. i stopped him. but that's really strange. how come the official distributors don't know this big news?

If this news is official and true then it is very sad indeed especially for those who already have bought these machines and must have been falling in love with them.

It immediately reminded me to the Bajaj Enduro SX - similar bike, similar fate - whatever the reason might had been. And even though it shared quiet some parts with the then successful KB, once out of production, they just disappeared basically due to lack of spares. I don't even remember when I had seen an Eduro SX in flesh last.

Have seen a few Impluse's on the road and the bike really looked good and most reviews were +ve plus it was probably trying to reintroduce the category that BAL had tried with the SX.

There must be a rule that once introduced, the manufacturer MUST produce and support a model for alteast 10yrs. Else everyone might start playing with the customers, launch a new model with much fanfare, sell a few and the discontinue... this must not happen.

The companies should realise that once this happens, the future customers would be skeptical about purchasing the next NEW model cause its not know how long it would be produced/supported for.

The same thing happened with me yesterday. The showroom manager was kinda surprised when i told about the phasing out news. So wherever this info came from. Is it trustworthy?

There is a great deal of argument when a new thread when hero news come up. Hero has not confirmed that it will stop the production of impulse and other new products. If hero sees that there is a major market for these products then it will not stop as it will sell enough for royalty payment.
And regarding sticker jobs then it is because the engines developed on honda technology are patented by Honda and hero cannot change it without the permission of Honda. So all these days they were just using graphics.
And i am seeing a great uproar on discontinuation of product even though it is a good two years away and even hero has not confirmed it.
And regarding technology buying, now hero will not buy technology.
And if bajaj has bought stake in KTM then for information hero is buying stakes in EBR, AVL austria, and a unknown European company.
Unlike Honda where hero was buying technology but in this case they will work together in R&D to produce new technology.
EBR- along with EBR hero will develop new higher performance bikes.
AVL- Along with AVL they will develop new 100-125 cc bikes with better performance and mileage
Unknown European company- Along with it hero will develop hybrid scooters.
For any company to bring out new products it will takes 1-2 years and we must encourage Indian manufacturers to develop rather than criticizing.

Bajaj would not have succeeded if people have not trusted on them. Similarly TVS would have not developed if we have not trusted them.

Hero has also mentioned that it will replace impulse with similar or better products.

Bajaj has also stopped many successful models like caliber, caliber 115, boxer, wind 125, 4S champion, e.t.c.
Still parts are available and people are using them.
So without seeing we must not jump to a conclusion and stop criticizing hero.

And manufacturing doesn't means only engine and thus Honda.
For information Honda provides the technology and not engines.
Engines, chassis, shocks everything are manufactures by hero.
Hero has a group of companies which includes SUNBEAM, FCC RICO, SAL, SLD, e.t.c.
Sunbeam produces castings, chassis and other body parts.
FCC RICO produces brake drums, brake liners, clutch parts,e.t.c.
SAL- it manufactures many items like pistons, rings, bore e.t.c.
SLD- manufactures lock sets, switch gears, e.t.c.
MUNJAL SHOWA- Munjal is a partner of its brothers and manufactures shock absorber with SHOWA of italy.

So all those who thinks honda is the reason of hero quality think again as honda only gives technology but hero is who manufactures.
As a mechanical engineer i know what it takes to maintain top quality in manufacturing process.
So the quality for which hero is famous is the result of hero's effort.

And regarding buying stakes the news have come in BUSINESS STANDARD newspaper and if any one wants then i can post the scanned copy here.

i think if Hero has said to phase out these models then it is the wrong time they have said. they should have taken time in setting up their own R&D centre and then would have just said that they are upgrading these models with a newer and more powerful and efficient engines. Also they were with HONDA for a very long time, i think they should have made their ties more stronger by buying some stake in Honda like Bajaj does normally. This way even after their split they would have to pay lesser royalties or would have some rights in dictating terms. They have to think in long term gains. Where they will also learn? Ties with Honda may have been good or bad but the way Hero is moving it shows they haven't learned major things from Honda or the other way round Honda haven't shown them anything in Technology part and others.
Its like HONDA dictated terms to Hero, which is very bad for a partnership.

But I guess in this case it is more due to the lack of consent from its partner (till 2014).. Honda obviously does not want an Activa competitor (the Maestro is nothing but the Activa with the CBS and all).. the poor Impluse (& Ignitor) has happened to be in harms way.

The way Splendor/Passion is ultra important for Hero, Activa is similarly significant for Honda. Both partners might have agreed to keeping their cash cows. Honda must have charged an Atomic Bomb for allowing Hero to keep the pre Impulse models post 2014 that too without the royalty payment.

But what I am surprised is why did Hero launch the Impulse and Maestro and then spend such a huge amount promoting (Transroader & Boy thing TV Ads) it if they had to discontinue it? Something tells me that they proabably did NOT see it coming (i.e having to discontinue the models).

The Ignitor might have been just launched, but now I don't see it being promoted heavily (like the Impulse & Maestro).. and also the Passion X Pro (remember..??) might not get launched.

It might be possible that Honda is doing this intentionally. They might have thought that they can easily bring down Hero in the motorcycle segment with new products but thats not what is happening exactly. So Honda might have thought that if Hero is allowed to use their technology they might beat Honda in their own game.

So the final weapon they are using is to spoil the Brand Hero itself. Cut the root to get rid of the tree by allowing it to slowly die. Now how can they bring down Brand Hero which is very big in every sense? Simple, allow them to use products and then at later point of time withdraw support in terms of technology and rights to use them. So all customers who bought these products will suddenly face issues in after sales and service where no spares are available. And the Brand downfall will follow. This has never happened with Hero in their entire history and will have great impact on users impression. .

In my opinion i think this might be a bigger strategy of Honda which has taken Hero by complete surprise. Its sacry to think this way but i cant think of any other possibility for such a dramatic thing. As the saying goes everything is fair in love and WAR

Then you will realize that the people who were pissed the most were people who bought the 'to be discontinued' products. Nobody gets happy when bikes get discontinued, especially the new, exciting and affordably priced ones.
